Random Commanders Thoughts

I'm just going to say it. Anyone calling for an RG3 trade is just flat out irrational. The guy came back right after a 2nd total knee repair, hobbled his way through a terrible season (and he had plenty of help in it being a bad season btw), and had a single bad pre-season game. He's the best QB we've had here in 20 years and you guys think we're even considering trading him?

I really can't believe some of the nonsense put out there at times.

It's premature. I don't believe any rational person is suggesting that yet. However.....as a hypothetical, let's say we start out 1-5 or 0-6, and it appears his upside as a pocket passer may never come to fruition. What then? Bench him in an effort to make the playoffs, or just write the season off and let him continue to develop?

There are a lot of factors in play here, including a ridiculously talented group of WRs that want to win, and may not be on board with an extended learning curve. This WR crew was assembled to win now, or shortly from now.

We're in a tough position. We didn't spend three firsts for a game manager. Cousins can do that.

Yet at the same time, we no longer want him to run. We're trying to teach him something he's never learned before. Lots of QBs never do.

So if it ever does become apparent that he's not picking it up, do we just let him run wild and play wide open? Or will we then just accept that we are going to try to win with an average, or possibly below average passer?

All hypothetical, of course. We want an Aaron Rodgers or Steve Young, but what if it appears he'll never approach that?

A 'source' from 'Baylor'....ooooh.....it's like, a breaking news kind of a thing! My how far 'Hail!' has fallen. At least they finally dropped the 'Magazine' from their moniker. Probably a good idea since they haven't actually published an article in something like 3 years. That drivel does not even warrant a read.

He's a complete ass, who cries for attention. Nothing more.

McD5, As my Dad would say "let's cross that bridge when we get there.."

I'm concerned about RG3's play too but I gotta see 5-6 real games first before I fire up the grill... :)

Winning and losing records don't mean squat in pre-season...you're absolutely right.

But, when's the last time you saw Brady suck in pre-season? Brees? Rodgers? Look at Wilson. Kaepernick's effort this pre-season looks pretty much like him. I don't think the guy is a great player. Hell, even Romo looks good during pre-season.

Our offense, with the exception of a few plays against a terrible Browns team, has looked stumble and bumble.

Yeah, I'm worried.

Well, let's be honest.....the RG sampling we're basing our judgements off of so far this preseason is a pretty small one. So, whether we're in good shape or bad, it's really too small a sample so far to make any intelligent calls on. While I can't argue the Baltimore game, I would, however, make the argument that other than some red-zone issues, he's moved the offense pretty effectively in the other two games. Even without all his weapons available.

Oh, and while I too can justify some concerns based on what we've seen to date, to compare RG in his only his 3rd season (and I'm being generous considering what went down last year) and in going thru the expected growing pains learning a new system......to compare him to Brady, Brees or Rodgers is a bit unfair. I could see comparing him with Wilson, Kaopectate (no idea how to spell his name) or nearly any other QB out there (other than Manning), but certainly not those three. Would I like to see him operate like those guys? For sure. But he's just not there yet. It does take time.

Slam of the year, here it comes. Here's my response to the troll who wrote that article, as he again trolls to upset fans about the Brandon Merriweather suspension:

Redskins players acting like Meriweather actually brought something to the table. That's more concerning and shocking to me.

@kielmaddox Almost as shocking as someone thinking a "source from Baylor" is bringing something to the table? Child please.

Just a random thought.....and it's premature, but that was an ugly outing.

In all seriousness, Merriweather's hit on Smith was legal. He hit him with his shoulder pad.

His hit on Pierce was not. That was clear helmet to helmet.

If they're gonna do this, I just wish they'd get it right.

He got the flag on the Smith hit because of the hit on Pierce... that put him out of the game BTW.

This is on Merriweather. It doesn't mean that the NFL doesn't piss me off beyond explanation, but its his own fault. He knows there's a target on his back and he keeps knocking helmets.

The Smith hit was not legal because they can make up whatever they want when they think its vicious, and the helmet contact made it look vicious to the refs. I can't help but believe that they were itching to throw the flag when Pierce got knocked out but good old Brandon couldn't dial it back when he should have known that it was coming.

Penalizes fans more than anything else. If they can charge full price for preseason games then suspend guys for preseason games when there's one left. The way they conveniently ignore preseason games for suspensions but then tell us that they count by charging us full price for them it just ridiculous.

Not as bad as this though....

All bad.

Remember that old story about how Larry Brown was always firing either early or late and as a result, was not playing well at all...until Vince Lombardi had him tested and discovered that he had a hearing problem. Got the man a hearing aide and the rest is history. Run to daylight!!
