Maybe picking Trent Murphy instead of an o-lineman in the second wasn't the best decision for need.

I'm really not sure about what RT was available there though, and Murphy may turn to to be a star. His development would also give the team some flexibility with Orakpo's contract coming up.

Moses seemed to be better on the left side in college, and that's not such a bad thing in case Williams ever gets injured. In the meantime, he can continue to improve on the right side. He is a huge human being.

It would really, really be helpful if a player like Compton, Leribeus or even Hurt could catch fire right now and step into a starting position.

The only other option for this season would be to get a player from another team.
 
He's a rookie with - what - a month under his belt and you're pronouncing him a bust? Tough crowd.
 
Looks like the NFL has decided to penalize the Washington Redskins and its loyal fan base unfairly. :(










Lavar Arrington on the NFL Network full time is just another unfair penalty in a long line of injustices against our team.

I don't know what is ceiling will be tr1, but making a final pronouncement about any player's potential after a rookie minicamp and a couple weeks of training camp - that just makes no sense to me.
 
I haven't viewed Moses as a potential 2014 starter or even major contributor since he was drafted. To me he was an investment in an OL that was criminally neglected here by previous administrations, set back badly by the cap penalty for two years, and is probably another 2-3 years from recovering from that combination. I'll start to judge him and his value about this time next year, when he's had a chance to become a pro. What I really wish is that we'd been able to significantly upgrade the Chester/Polumbus pass pro problem through free agency ... and I'm going to assume that the team tried but was unable to find better immediate options w/o breaking the bank.

The OL disaster was built over a long period of time. I'm just glad to see we're actually investing in rebuilding it with an eye to the future again.
 
The only thing I think is glaringly missing from your assessment is that Polumbus, awful or not is a 6 year NFL vet who's had a lot of time to adjust to the NFL game and the Redskins OL in general. It makes a difference.
 
Were first team defenses playing? That might have had something to do with how well the offenses looked against them as well. Did Hatcher play? Did he look ok?

Some Redskins News...

Leonard Hankerson is likely to start the season on the PUP list. He is cleared for a running program. With the depth at WR, the Redskins can afford to stash him away.

Jordan Reed is absolutely phenomenal at camp. He figures to have a huge season.

Ryan Grant is another shining star at camp and he could spell the end for Aldrick Robinson AND Santana Moss. Grant could shine as a slot receiver.

Richard Crawford continues to fight for a roster spot, but he could be a longshot to make the team.

Chris Thompson is having a good camp, but struggles with pass protection. He is behind Lache Seastrunk on the depth chart.

Morgan Moses continues to struggle, but will be given time to adjust. Tom Compton is ahead of him on the depth chart at this time.

Tracy Porter looks to have the slot corner role filled.

Stephen Bowen hopes to be cleared to practice in the coming days or week.

The zone read option for the offense will be used sparingly this season - maybe only two or three times each game - or less.

Maurice Hurt came to camp out of shape and could be cut sooner rather than later.

Jason Hatcher should return in a matter of days - a week at most.

Roy Helu and Darrel Young are locks to make the team and have significant impacts.

Keenan Robinson continues to make enormous strides in camp and is an opening game starter for now.

Lache Seastrunk could see the field this season at times in a relief role and change of pace back - or about five carries a game.

Akeem Davis may pass Bacarri Rambo on the depth chart. Rambo is struggling and mightily so.

Anybody paying even minor attention heard Gruden say from the start that Moses would begin his career working at the left tackle spot, where he played his best in college, so as not to make adjusting to the NFL doubly hard. He will transition to RT as he progresses. If he can crack the starting lineup before, or by, the middle of NEXT season, we will have locked up RT for a good long while.

The innerwebz has destroyed fan patience.

Of course, they usually blame anything, and everything else imaginable, for their own willingness to choose negativity.
 
Ax is 100% correct. Then again, we may have one of two other things...

1. Trent's next contract is going to be humongous. And Griffin's. Are we going to let Trent walk?

2. We could have a long term solution at backup LT.

and...

3. Ax has it right and that seems to be the choice.
 
Hatcher had his knee scoped - right? So I would think its goingb to be a given that he won't be in 'football shape' upon his return - through no fault of his own...
 
Considering Gruden's statement about the depth chart;

"Nothing is set in stone right now. We just had to do it for the media. So we just put the depth chart out there and we have a pretty good idea who our ones are and our twos are, but there's still plenty of competition at a lot of spots. But this is our starting point right now. Sometimes if it’s close, we put the veteran in front and then we’ll just go from there. Let the preseason games play it out. That could be changeable. We could change it after our first preseason game. We'll see how it goes. "


I would think things here are still not locked in all that much and subject to change as evaluation continues through the preseason. I think it's doubtful that more than a sparse handful of positions are invulnerable to change right at the moment.

no way Trent walks!!! but...as I noted before...Rak is almost certainly gone next season even if he has a monster season.
