Random Commanders Thoughts

Has there been any Larib sightings? Just curious if dude is still in fatass mode.

Right on, appreciate the update. He's got him some competition now...hopefully it'll get his mind right.

I thought word was he was more of a riblet now... not sure.

I think the draft of Grant and the moves to sign Hoffman are signs that Gruden is not at all impressed with Robinson and Hankerson and these guys in a suddenly deep WR unit could end up on the outside looking in.

Both guys have had more than ample opportunity to show they can be consistent, impact players. Neither (imho) has shown more than flashes of being a reliable NFL WR that we can count on to produce consistently and in crunch time. One thing I like about Gruden is that I think there's going to be a lot more pressure to compete if you want a spot on this roster than there has been in the past. All coaches talk the talk ('the guys who perform the best are going to be the ones who get playing time regardless of blah blah blah') but it's looking like no player is guaranteed a spot on this team. That's got to be a good thing.

Eff the Patriots. And eff Belicheat.

Lol. I hear both of you. But for fans, it would provide a lot more to watch.

I also believe that it probably helps the players. Any chance to compete against starters from another team has to be good.

I was beginning to wonder how one could lose his own starting role while under Shanahan (outside of Griffin)...and why there were so many bodies that weren't motivated or in shape enough to supplant any one of the struggling players on the Oline?

Shanahan drafted guys and signed free agents but never seemed to get rid of them when they weren't producing.

We should have cut Josh Morgan before or during last season. What a waste of a jersey.

Did we have to go through an entire season with the 40 year old Rocca near or at the bottom of the league standings?

No one else could have auditioned for this job?

When you allow unproductive or declining players to stay it erodes the overall competitiveness of the team.

As much as it pains me, and Sav was one of my faves when playing Aussie Rules, the experiment of recycling former Aussie Rules players may be coming to an end. Kids are starting to realise that their best option is to take the plunge and go to college in the US, and then run the draft gauntlet.

There are two Aussies that have been drafted in recent times - Jesse Williams (Seahawks) and David Yankey (Vikings). Another in P Tom Hornsey is yet to find a NFL home.

my girl was the same way with Sav. She got a jersey, we got his attention and he smiled at her for rocking his jersey but even she said he wasn't the same. She used to show me videos of him back in his prime and the guy could punch kick it 60yds! It just happens though and my suspicion is that since the Aussie guys play a lot harder and with basically no pads their bodies break down faster.

...best not be...probably not any better than #4 of guys looking to grab the last two interior OL spots.

His draft bio had me shaking my head on why take this guy in the third round. Two plus years later I am asking the same question.

LeRibeus was a 6th round pick we reached way high for.

dayum! saw Murphy interviewed today. not only is he a big dude....he looks and sounds nasty.

Long interview was impressive as well. another big dude who looks like he can do some serious damage.
