Random Commanders Thoughts

I like the name Washington Aztecs.

Two syllables...easily interchangeable for the fight song. Burgundy and gold continue to work.

And, we can call for Cowboy sacrifices!

I've been thinking the perfect replacement name, if we go that route, would be the name of a specific tribe.
It's perfect, because it's as seamless a transition as possible to the most similar theme overall, and absolutely no-one can really call it derogatory.

File this under the WHEW !! Glad it's not us cabinet drawer.

I like this quote from the story, couldn't ask for more validation of the notion that information with substance is pretty much non existent.

Gruden's former quarterback, Rich Gannon, seemed to suggest in a recent radio interview with 95.7 The Game radio in San Francisco, that a return to Oakland for Gruden wouldn't be a totally crazy notion.

Forming an opinion based on speculation that someone seemed to suggest something within their own speculative opinion. :tongue2:

The troubling part of this stuff is that it almost makes sense, like he says... it wouldn't be totally crazy.

I am assuming that's a joke. The Burgundy and Gold - if the name is ever changed, would be the only name I could live with.

You really want our team name, to be the names of 2 colors ?
Then what would our mascot be, a guy dressed up as a Palette ?

We don't need a stupid mascot. You want to be like the Eagles with their stupid little man-in-a-bird-suit running around the field pre-game? :) There's really no other name that makes sense to me, because it's the only potential name that is actually already in use and wouldn't truly be a 'name change'. If that doesn't resonate with you that's cool. I'm a lot more interested in retaining the history of the club than in what the logo/mascot looks like - things like team colors, the band, ties to the past.

If they wanted to retain the link to American Indians (which personally, I've had enough of) and elected to go with something like the 'Potomacs', I could live with that. But I don't think any of the other strange suggestions I've heard make any sense at all. And like I said, if the Redskins cave to pressure to change the name in order to be politically correct and based on this manufactured 'offensiveness', I may walk entirely just on principle.

So now LaCanfora is suggesting that Art Briles and Gregg Williams "could" be the next participants on the coaching carousel. Umm...Williams comes back to DC after he was shunned for the HC position in favor of Zorn?

It is not so much the lack of football during the off-season that irks me...it's the abundance of "insiders"!

What has JLA ever gotten right?

Nbc 4 just came to our tailgate and got us on video. Was pretty cool.

**** Dallas!

What has JLA ever gotten right?

Our locals interviewed a Texas local (think the spot is on ESPN980 somewhere) and that 'insider' felt that Briles is just too Texas, doesn't think that Briles would go out of state for most anything.

Wouldn't surprise me that Briles would be hesitant to leave the comforts of 'home' after seeing how his former star player and high profile coach has been shredded in this market.

Agree, JLA doesn't have the best track record via Redskins inside scoops, opinions or whatever they call mass disinformation.

Boy, if someone wrote an article every time a former player seemed to suggest something, we'd have no time to read them all.
Unless a direct quote is offered up, almost all you read is exactly that. At least if a quote 'is real' one can formulate what the intent of the speaker was actually saying on their own and not what the 'reporter's' take is.... kinda like he said something but what does it really mean.

Of course there is also the quote taken out of context thing to deal with, too.

Death by field goals.

Gruden isn't going anywhere there is not a base of talent to get started with.

He isn't going back to Oakland where they have $25M in dead money for 2014.

In a season that became so disappointing that I couldn't have possibly cared less the last few weeks, I was greatly surprised by just how much I cared today.

I should have known better than to allow myself to get my hopes up.

Something else that strikes me. With 1:18 we had plenty of time to get down the field and win the game. What happened? I don't think it was all on Kirk...which makes me think it's not all on Griffin in that position either. To me it looks like Kyle is not getting a good play in for them...more importantly, not letting the QB make the plays.

1st and 10 with 1:18 left and no timeouts, don't call plays with everyone on the sidelines. The Cowturds are going to give you the middle of the field...take advantage on the very 1st play in that situation. There were no receivers in the middle of the field on that play. There is plenty of time to get down the field. In fact, there should be 2 plays called there. You know they will give you the middle of the field and it should be a nice gain. Have the next play called already. You're coming out of a TV time out!

Shame too, Kyle actually called a pretty good game for the most part.

When Dallas scored the first td it sounded like a Cowboys home game. Glad that changed.
