Random Commanders Thoughts

At #Redskins Park. Here—Shanahan’s car, lots of satellite trucks. Not here: Dan Snyder’s limo.

Compared to Shanahan, Marty was a laid back, flexible and consensus building leader.

“I obviously played for Mr. Snyder, and when I got to Washington, I was surprised,” Shawn Springs said on Comcast SportsNet. “For us, it was Clinton Portis. Every team has a player, a star player that gets a little preferential treatment. It happens. But Washington was different, because usually it happens with a player and a coach. I’d never seen it before with an owner and a player. So that was surprising to me. And with even being in New England, Tom Brady — who is probably the image or the symbol of the NFL — him and Mr. Kraft didn’t have that type of relationship. So that was a little different for me."

Lots of people try to relate Snyder and how he acts with other owners. There's a guy comparing Snyder to Kraft, having played for both.

Some notes on Barry Cofield's presser.

Zac Boyer ‏@ZacBoyer
Cofield said he hasn't noticed any preferential treatment of Griffin over the past season-plus.

Grant Paulsen ‏@granthpaulsen
Barry Cofield says Shanahan told the players today that he was going to give them his best over the last 3 games, expected same from them.

Zac Boyer ‏@ZacBoyer
Cofield on Shanahan's status: "It's definitely not a topic in the locker room. Our focus is on the game and on meetings."

Grant Paulsen ‏@granthpaulsen
Barry Cofield on his response to the report that Mike Shanahan almost quit at the end of last season: "I honestly don't have one."

Grant Paulsen ‏@granthpaulsen
Barry Cofield says he hasn't heard anything about Mike Shanahan's future or drop status. "Everything was normal today."

to add to it:
‏@john_keim 5m
Cofield: "I hesitate to point the finger anywhere else unless as players we're playing flawlessly. We're nowhere close to that."

@Theismann7
RT @nnpiv4: @Theismann7 joe, did JKC ever let players go to him instead of Gibbs or Beathard?/ no

NFL network just aired a graphic saying Shanahan was fired.

Graphic has since been pulled.

Press conference real awkward right now!

Media doesn't fear Shanahan anymore. Blood in the water.

Washington Redskins ‏@Redskins
Shanahan says the 24 sacks in the last 5 games are a consideration on whether or not Griffin III starts vs. ATL. Decision in next 48 hrs.

Zac Boyer ‏@ZacBoyer
Shanahan: I think it's important going into the offseason to see Griffin is healthy. Not a guarantee Griffin won't play.

Listening to the press conference now, it's funny. Shanny is trying to say that he just wants to talk about football questions only, trying to ignore everything else. I get why he says that, it's just funny.

John Keim ‏@john_keim
Shanahan said he spoke with Snyder today. Said they have a good relationship

Washington Redskins ‏@Redskins
Shanahan says he is only answering questions about football for the last three games. "Goal is to win the last three games."

"It would take me two minutes to clean out my office. I have 2 notebooks and an iPad. So when I hear stuff like that I just shake my head"

regarding report of cleaning out office

Shanahan is a light packer.

Grant Paulsen - "There's a lot of bad football teams out there not having press conferences like this"

Not bothering with the question/answer part, it felt more like a statement not a question/answer.

Zac Boyer ‏@ZacBoyer
Shanahan: It would take me two minutes to clean out my office. I have two notebooks and an iPad.

Bram Weinstein ‏@BramESPN
Now that was funny.. Shanahan said it would take him 2 minutes to clean out his office because he has like 3 things in it..

Zac Boyer ‏@ZacBoyer
Shanahan said he can't speak on yesterday's report. Sometimes things are heard from another person, embellished. Sometimes things are true.

Zac Boyer ‏@ZacBoyer
Shanahan again declines to share his discussion with Snyder.

Rick Snider ‏@Snide_Remarks
Shanahan has long threatened to fire staffers if they leaked things to press. So why are there constant leaks?
