Random Commanders Thoughts

yeah, we have a cheerleader going to the probowl

which is more than we can say about the rest of the team.

it's so laughingly bad that they run advertisements on the stadium boards about pro bowl voting this year. i think it's for kerrigan, hall, griffin, morris, probably trent williams and maybe 1 more.

it's all film from last year.

last ****ing year.

it's like a terrible joke, but it wasn't meant to be.

I don't think it would have made a difference, I just have no confidence in our team right now. :(

Having said that, for the first time, I am starting to buy into the idea that things are rigged against us, and that Win needs to hurry up and bitch-slap Mara with a dead possum.

Hell right about now I'd add Triplett and Both Shans to that list. Maybe go in with a possum in each hand, windmill style swinging for the fences.

I can actually see this team of ours driving people to alcoholism.

At least they're running ads about something other than advertising. After going to a couple of away games this year (first time in a few years) I have truly discovered what it is about Fedex I don't like. They are perpetually trying to sell you something no matter WTF you are doing anywhere on the property. Say what you will about our rivals, but teams like the Cowboys don't spend a bunch of time selling you anything but their brand at their stadium. Even the lowly Raiders have pro Raider adverts on their lite brite screen and around their stadium.

We hear all the time about a "real Redskin" and "a Redskins player." The image from the top is that its all about the money. The message force fed through every 30 second commercial on their website before any video plays is... WE WANT YOUR MONEY. Nothing more, nothing less. :(

It is time for a new stadium. I do not think we will ever win in this one, there is just something about it. How awesome would it be to build a RFK type stadium. That stadium would rock and roll, teams didn't want to play us there.

That's because the teams were good. No one feared going into RFK in the 50's and 60's. Winning is what brings a great atmosphere and a fear from other teams. Complaining about the stadium is just something people do because it's easy.

With all going on in my personal life, coupled with the deplorable team we have, I sadly am finding that I have lost all interest in football for this season now. It sucks

Agreed Mike... this team is starting to be built for the long haul. Young talent at key positions. 5 players off the top of my head are pro bowl caliber players, and a couple more could be in the conversation.

You know it is bad when Browns fans are laughing at the Redskins. They are getting ready to start their fourth QB of the year, and have won one more game than us...... If that is not a kick in the nuts I don't know what is. :thud:

I understand what you're saying but the Browns ARE playing a last place schedule and couldn't even beat the Jags with Josh Gordon setting team records.

They did do something we couldn't, but SHOULD have done. They beat Minnesota.

Let's not get too caught up in 3-9 by itself. Any team can have a down season. The question to ask is whether there are valid reasons.

When I look at the Redskins I see a team that at least before last week was the team that has lost the LEAST amount of man-games to injury.

This staff is fielding the team it came out of the summer expecting to start.

That is one of the clear negatives as it shows that in a Year 4 there is a pretty large talent gap.

Second, after 3 plus years the Redskins still have one of the oldest rosters in the NFL.

Again a clear negative as that means many of these players are now at or past their primes and there is limited upside.

While I can count 10-15 players I would like to keep, even the conservative math probably puts us at bringing in 20 new players through the draft, UDFAs and NFL free agents.

That kind of turnover will not have the effect of fielding a cohesive team in 2014 as it takes time for players to learn the systems and their teammates.

So, the argument about continuity is in my mind illusory.

2014 will bring a new team whether we keep Shanahan or get another coach and GM.

For my money, if 2014 is going to be a bridge year we might as well bring in a new coach and front office.

Let them find the 20 players we need and replace some of the starters Shanahan has favored who are not performing well as a group, ie OL.

Great points, BD. Especially the "man-games lost to injury" when contrasted with last year when we lead the league in this category and still won the division, and were a bum knee away from a playoff game win at home.

After 4 years we are still counting on Reed Doughty to play safety in the base defense.

3 years after drafting Trent Williams we still have not found a credible RT to pair him with.

After 3 plus years we will head into 2014 offseason with ONE sure thing at WR, Pierre Garçon.

Moss is done, Robinson has speed but poor hands, Morgan was a free agent bust, and Hankerson has turned out to be a possession receiver with little down the field ability. His hands are also questionable at times.

Adam Shefter on ESPN 980 just now
"change is coming to Washington this off season. Again."

My gut is that Snyder will give Shanahan an ultimatum (probably to dump Haslett at a minimum, and possibly to also replace Kyle - particularly if the rumors of a Kyle-Griffin rift are true) and that Shanahan refuses. Total blow up of coaching staff.

The look on Snyder's face during the Giants game was telling. He looked fed up and pissed.
