Good lord with the doom and gloom people. It's one game against a team with a new offense and a new defense, using a QB that hasn't taken a snap in 8 months.

Even Jim Zorn started 6-2 when no one knew what he was going to do.

Last night should end any debate on whether or not the preseason has value.

It does and last night showed why.

Morris virtually got no work in preseason and had no feel for contact last night to start the game.

Robert got no work and as a result, had no feel for game speed until mid third quarter.

The new CBA is at fault too because they have almost legislated contact out of training camp and practice. How do you get better at tackling when the team is limited to shells and shorts for most of practice and training camp?

IMO, it's probably going to be at least 3 more games before this team rounds into form and we see what we have. Hope we can find a way to get a couple of wins while they find their sea legs.

I also love the anti-shanahan crowd coming out of the woodworks, as if it's somehow his fault Griffin played like ass for 2 1/2 quarters, morris decided to fumble twice, or even better that all the sudden shanahan is a bad coach.

Yeah, this was the ideal scenario for the Eagles, unfortunately. I thought maybe they'd put some quick points on the board and we'd have to climb back into it, but I didn't think our offense would be as rusty as it was. Once they got clicking, it was a lot better. Took a bit longer than I thought though.

Think of it this way: If Forbath hits that field goal, and Shanahan doesn't call a pitch in his own endzone, there's a 5-pt swing. Its only a 1-point game instead of a 6-point game at the end. It was a lot closer than it looked.

I know this is loser talk, but with the game 33-7 in the 3rd quarter almost all the fans stayed. A few left - and I mean a few, not very many.
Most stayed until the failed 4th and 15 attempt.

Not a "we're an awesome fanbase" comment because honestly our fans leave as soon as the game is out of hand, more of a observation that: most people still thought something magical could happen. As much flak as Griffin is taking today, he's the reason why.

I don't want to get too chesty about the 'comeback' because the eagles did play soft with a 26 point lead, but at the end of the day the kickoff unit was lining up with a little less than a minute in the game trying and onsides kick down by 6. They were close, just not close enough.

If you watched the Chargers game you'd have seen the exact opposite and the Chargers led 28-7 in the 3rd. With no time remaining the Texans kicked the winning field goal. That stadium was 95% empty for the kick.

They still have a lingering case of NORVITIS.

I don't see any way we beat GB next week. 2-2 is about as good as we can expect I think.

I don't know if we saw the same GB on Sunday. Their defense is very flawed, and if we get going, we can take them. While they do have Rodgers, many of their receiving threats aren't as sharp and we could take advantage. They ARE beatable.

While I agree with you, Green Bay was one of maybe 3 teams that didn't look sloppy and rusty in week 1. That has me concerned more than any individual player/unit on their team.

Their offense started off sputtering, and Clay Matthews is on the billboard for boneheaded play of the weak. I'll give you that they didn't look as bad as some, but to say they didn't look sloppy or rusty at all? That's a slight whitewash.

ESPN had a camera man who was told to keep his lens on RGIII at all times, for "injury watch." Yeah, they're not rooting for a Griffin injury.

I see their offensive problems being more due to the 9er's D than anything else. Don't get me wrong, I know they are beatable, and I hope to God we beat them, I'm just not counting on it. And, truth be told, I don't think we will. I was incredibly encouraged by the improvement half over half the offense made. Had the game ended at halftime, I might have had to take a week or two off. But the second half was a completely different team out there, and I think we can hang with GB, I just have serious doubts that we can beat them.

Again, I hope I'm wrong.

All the people saying the eagles gave up and the redskins got meaningless garbage time points obviously didn't watch the houston san deigo game.

It doesn't matter how it happens, if you have a chance to win at the end that's what matters. After that first half the redskins had multiple chances to win with 8 minutes to go in the 4th.

Yep, and like mike said it happened quite a few times too. First half tackling was piss poor by everyone but Rak stood out the most to me.

Rak had an issue of diving in too low and collapsing when he should have been more worried about containing and holding his lane. he was trying to make the big play and got burned like he did on the CJ2K run.

Well, that's been his problem since he got here, so I'm not surprised. That's why, at least in the past, teams ran directly at him.

Rak's problems were more backside-contain. McCoy was able to cutback at will, mostly to Rak's side because he was crashing too hard. So in a word, no - they were not running right at him. Might have done less damage that way. :\
