Random Commanders Thoughts

Brandon Merriweather's inability to get healthy pisses me off. We need to pay him only for games in which he plays.

He reminds me of Marcus Washington, and he's approaching the Malcolm Kelly zone.

Marcus Washington was a pro bowl player for the Redskins. I would hardly compare a guy in Brandon that has played one half of one game to him.

Yeah, I call foul on this as well. Marcus Washington played 62 of his first 64 games with the team, and 74 of his first 80. His final season he missed 6 games, but he was on his way out career-wise at that point. He brought it every day for the Skins, Meriweather has played what...ONE game? The two are not even remotely comparable.

He also had one of my favorite moments in a Cowboys-Redskins game: Jason Witten caught the ball, turned upfield, and ran about 5 yards before stepping out of bounds like the hulking va-j-j he is. Marcus said 'F*CK YO OUT OF BOUNDS LINE' and straight leveled Witten (I believe breaking his jaw), getting a 15-yard flag in the process. The Redskins went on to score 35 unanswered points, and only gave up the shutout in the waning minutes of the 4th quarter.

Love the new phrases you are choosing over "I disagree" and "You're dead wrong"

Aw man, you TOTALLY busted me! Thankfully McD5 won't get his wittle feewings hurt over me disagreeing with his post, like some others.

I mean, GOD FORBID WE ALL DON'T AGREE 100% WITH EACHOTHER! WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TOO????!!!!!!?!?!??!?!!?

EDIT: I am also fairly certain I've never typed the phrase "you are dead wrong." :)

I'd keep in mind, we don't know if Griffins approach will prove successful. It could well be he is rushing back. Only time will tell.

That's why there is a pit in my stomach that will stay there until he's hoisting a lombardi. :(

Marcus Washington was a good player until that final year. Then all of the "rah-rah, man did you see me make that tackle after the first down? Let's slap high fives, I have so much energy" bs wasn't enough to cover up his broken down body, and inability to ever play again.

There was a long span where we would hear that he looked good to go, but when Sunday came, Shawn Springs and Marcus Washington were always on the inactive list. I'm not criticizing the guy, I'm just saying that Brandon Merriweather needs to get healthy, or get off the payroll. He's quiet as a mouse, just collecting his paycheck.

Right, but I'm just saying Marcus earned that final season with the 5 seasons of close to full-participation before it. Meriweather hasn't done crap for us other than one half of football!

That's all. :)

EDIT: I agree though, he needs to get his ass on the field, pronto.

Tim Brant is doing an hour long special on the redskins for the season preview on ABC.

LOL Griffin randomly reached out to a guy that owned a specialized pool to rehab at his house secretly away from the media...

I'm known to get my comments erased by Florio for many years now. He and I don't really see eye to eye especially on the name REDSKINS. But for as much crap as Florio stirs over at PFT, he often gives us respect in the W/L department. Their latest "prediction" has Florio as the only clown one of twoclowns over there picking us to win our division... then he has us losing to the freaking lions in the wildcard round? Oh I'll tell ya... no respect.... no respect at all... :D A couple of them have us sneaking into the playoffs and getting bounced. Telling you the truth, as long as Robert and a few others stay healthy, I'd be happy with that.

PFT has their share of buffoons. I really think they will eat their words this season.

Lanky, love you. You know a lot about football. I love everyone here.

Marcus Washington was a stand-up guy. Let's be realistic, and admit that he wasn't taking us to a SB. Marcus Washington isn't going into the ROF, let alone the HOF.

As Skins fans, we kick ass. But remember where we came from. Marcus was a good player on an embarrassing team. Great teams, I'd argue like we are right now, have five of him. Maybe seven of him.

His high-fiving, "I am so enthusiastic" bs wore old.

Merriweather needs to get on the field.

To each his own - I loved Washington's enthusiasm and he was a very good LB for several years, even making the pro bowl one year as BT noted. He was an integral part of our 2005 top-rated defense, which went to the playoffs and won the Wild Card game - not really what I'd call embarassing, but again, to each his own.

And again, I agree that Meriweather needs to get on the field. As someone who was against signing him from day one, I especially think he needs to suck it up and get on the field. I hate being right about bad signings. :(

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I finally got a chance to watch the Bucs game, and I was pretty unimpressed by Minnifield's play. If he had dominated that game, he would easily have made the roster. Instead, it seemed like he was struggling in coverage, and was clearly outplayed by Amerson. Whether or not this was due to his knee, I'm not sure - however after watching that game I am not surprised he didn't make the final 53.

Pat White on the other hand, showed some things. His INT was awful, but outside of that, he made pretty smart choices with the football. Plus, you can't teach the open-field vision he has when running the football. I don't want to see him take any meaningful snaps, but maybe in a few years? Who knows.

unfortunately the clowns just pretend they never said that.

why anyone even reads those bs sites is beyond me. my dog has as good of a chance of predicting the season as them.

SO..taking a risk on White seems to have good upside to me. What I found lacking in the preseason is that he doesn't have the passes. sorta rifled it in there all the time w/o showing a variety of touch passes, etc. out of the game for a whole so let's see what happens by next season.

I take their predictions with a grain of salt...

But PFT does provide a service. They report whether rumor or not, then the reader can take the time to delve further. It saves scouring the sports' page of various publications. I'm lazy...what can I say?

If the goal is to use White in a 'slash' type role then he may be worth keeping as a surprise element. But as a full-time QB? I don't think he is destined to fill that slot in the NFL, even as a No. 2.

Look at Cousins and then look at White. White is 4 years older but miles behind what Kirk already has a feel for.
