Loving the tweets today! Chase is actually able to do work, Helu is out there and Orakpo seems back in the saddle. Its a good day to be a skins fan!

Not trying to be a downer, but I will be surprised if Brian Orakpo is ever going to give us more than 8 games in a season, again.

Glad to see Minnifield coming along. I have a feeling about Crawford and if Chase can get healthy and have a limited role this season (Maybe cover packages), next season could see a tremendous secondary comprised of late round gems.

Im gonna give Rak a personal benefit of the doubt for this season, but will be right there with ya if it plays out badly yet again.

The Seahawks are probably in a better spot, but then again if we'd hit on Crompton, Palmer, Brennan, Hamden, Rosenfels or any of our other numerous later-round QB draft picks, we'd be in a much better spot as well. They got lucky with Wilson, it happens.

Wilson could also experience a drop off - look at Josh Freeman in Tampa. He had a great rookie year, but hasn't been nearly as good since.

Orakpo has as better chance than most, due to his conditioning and strength. I'd say he's got a better shot of giving us 16 games than Minnifield does.

I just don't believe that Lanky...not the part of Minnifield having a better chance. I would be surprised if he was in 8 full games this year. I just don't think Orakpo will either be healthy enough, or if he is that he won't get traded before the deadline to a 4-3 defensive team that is in need for a quality pass rush DE...Denver Broncos? Can you imagine Rak replacing Elvis?

Jackson was as good at the position as Rak. I say that because Jackson was so good in coverage and Rak just isn't. What Jackson lacks in pass rush compared to Rak, is well made up in his coverage skills. I refer you to the late game INT of Romo to seal the deal for the Division Title.

El, Jackson was a great fill-in last year and I think he should play a big role in our defense this year. However, this team desperately needs rushers on the line. I don't think the team can afford to wave off Orakpo's superior pass-rushing ability as easily as you would.

I think if Rak can play here he stays here.

And hopefully, the interior of that line will play well enough with the return of a couple guys and the addition of a couple guys, that Ryan Kerrigan won't be double teamed every down, but I really feel Orakpo is out of his element in this scheme. Shanahan has already tried to trade him once. Let him show how healthy he is (if he is) and get as much value for him as possible. Hell...we have Merling now! I would be extremely surprised to see him play 8 games with the Redskins this year.

I don't think this team is quite good enough, especially on defense, to have the luxury of trading good players away. Maybe after a few more drafts. But right now this defense really needs whatever rushers they can get.

I certainly find the Orakpo conversation interesting.

I think it's fair to say that, regardless of criticism, this team needs him on the field, healthy, and playing at the high level he's described of being capable of.

Our defense needs pass rush; badly. If for no other reason than to help our a secondary that will be pretty new/green chemistry wise.

I think this is why Rob Jackson looked so good last year, and why Kerrigan looked so good as a rookie; when Orakpo was on the field, he got most of the attention leaving Ryan one-on-one. Ryan disappeared a lot this year, as he was getting all the attention. This allowed Rob to step up, and step up he did. But Kerrigan is not Orakpo, and he could not do the things Rak did while being double-teamed most of the time.

Just my two cents...I think I'm firmly on record as an Orakpo fanboy.

As far as pass-rush is concerned, I'm very intrigued by Brandon Jenkins. I read that before his injury, he was being projected as a top-10 pick! If he can come back from that, we may just have our answer in that department...
