I've not even logged in to Game Centre, let alone the chatroom! As I get older, it's that much harder to stay awake until kick-off, and it's even harder to get up at that time (unless I'm off to the loo!). I just wait until I wake up and check the scores on the computer.

The last two games has got me reconsidering staying up until 4am and beyond.

You must be looking forward to the London game with glee then, as that will give you a modest start time of about 1230 am for you, huh

Yeah, I was looking at the standing last night. Just decided to check off the known playoff teams. What I came up with is there seems to be a real possibility we can be a wild card. Best case of course is win division but that's still a long road to hoe.

I can't be sure who that is, first thought was Gruden. Think Barry has some facial scruff going on now.

I'm not feeling good about this past draft at all. No player drafted thus far is giving me any hope. Batting .000. It's early, but that's the vibe I'm having. Doctson might have been fool's gold with a bad Achilles.

Let’s take a look at the players drafted in 2016 and the undrafted free agents currently on the roster. Is your statement correct? Incorrect? Somewhere in between?

Round One: Josh Doctson
We may not see him until 2017 or late this season at the earliest. It’s too early to put a grade on him. Sure, Doctson could become a bust or he could become an incredible superstar.

Round Two: Su'a Cravens
He is having an impact as a rookie. Great pick.

Round Three: Kendall Fuller
He is now entrenched as the starting nickel. Graded out as the best defensive player in the Redskins win over the Ravens according to PFF. Had another great game on Sunday. Looking like a huge steal in the third round.

Round Five: Matt Ioannidis
Started the season on the practice squad, but is now on the main roster. In the coming years, he likely fills the “Kedric Golston” role and provides good depth. Good pick in the fifth.

Round Six: Nate Sudfeld
This pick was made for the future and the hope is that Sudfeld becomes the long term answer at backup. Performed well in preseason. Good pick – fulfilling what the team wants in the eventual backup role.

Round Seven: Steven Daniels
He went to injured reserve before the season started. The hope is he becomes a good role player and special teams contributor. This gives him an incomplete grade.

Round Seven: Keith Marshall
He went to injured reserve before the season started. Given the emergence of Robert Kelley, Marshall could be headed to the practice squad in his second season. Injury to another player could give him a chance. This gives him an incomplete grade.

UDFAs
Robert Kelley
He is quickly establishing himself as a quality backup and effective weapon in a relief role. He is an absolute steal as an UDFA.

Anthony Lanier
He has seen the field a couple of times, but is usually a healthy scratch. It is unknown if he sticks with the team in the coming years, but it is certainly possible.

UDFA Injured Reserve
Kevin Bowen, OT
Bowen is a player to watch. He could become the next Ty Nsekhe or nothing more than a footnote in team history.

Reggie Diggs, WR
He likely is never more than a practice squad candidate.

Practice Squad
Maurice Harris, WR
Could he be another Rashad Ross? He has an intriguing skillset, but needs more time.

Kendal Thompson, WR
This might be his ceiling. May or may not be on the practice squad in 2017.

Isaiah Williams, OT
He is just a body for camp, offseason, and for practices.

Looking at the above list you have five players who are on the active roster and contribute in varying degrees. Four players are on injured reserve and their roles for next year are undetermined. Three are on the practice squad.

That adds up to twelve players from the 2016 draft and UDFA class who are on the roster, practice squad, or injured reserve.

Vinny Cerrato never had such success. Ditto for Charley Casserly. Of that current twelve, eight or nine should be on the roster two years from now. That is a good haul. If we had such success with Vinny, then Redskins fans would’ve considered it extraordinary. Instead, he spent three second round picks on receivers – all of them were either busts or head cases.

It’s way too early to judge the 2016 class of draft picks and UDFAs, but it looks good thus far.

I would venture to say that going back to the 2014 draft we have had one of the best 3 draft hauls over 3 drafts going back to Gibbs 1

I think our view of this year's draft class is being seriously skewed because Doctson is not able to play. If he were having a solid rookie year all the other guys' production would look just fine to us. Overall, because of Doctson, this draft is still a big question mark. But some of the later round guys are doing just fine, IMHO. If Doctson turns out to be a starting WR some time in our future, I think we'll all be ok with this draft class.

If we have to choose between Pierre or Desean next season. I would hate to lose either.

I agree with Chris Cooley's comment this AM on WTEM that it is really noticeable how much better this team plays the more some backups get on the field and when other guys are finally moved to their natural positions.

It makes you wonder what coaches were looking at in camp and the preseason.

Bruton and Hall were not playing well as the starting safeties. Phillips was flat out missing assignments as the slot corner. Lichtensteiger was not big enough to hold up in the run game.

These guys all go out and now we find out that Kendall Fuller can play and is according to Gruden going to be a 'fixture here in the secondary.'

So what happened in two plus weeks since the opener for Fuller to go from inactive to starter?

Ditto at center. Lichtensteiger was named the starter and the team tried to mix in Bryan Stork. Meanwhile the running game has gotten going with Spencer Long in the lineup. Did he come that far in 5-6 weeks?

At safety, Cooley and other commentators were critical of Bruton and couldn't figure out why the team wasn't playing Ihenacho and Blackmon more. Now they are, and added Donte Whitner to the mix.

Why did we wait so long? Whitner has been available since August.

Now we are finally making some tackles.

Interesting also is the case of Matt Ionnaidis. The #5 pick was waived outright at the beginning of the season to keep Kendall Reyes on the roster. Reyes was ranked poorly by PFF for his performance in 2015 in SD and evidently looked dreadful in camp practices according to Cooley.

So, then Reyes was cut and Ioannidis promoted back from the practice squad where he went in for 30 plays against Baltimore.

This guy wasn't good enough to make the opening night roster but can be part of a successful rotation inside 4-5 weeks later? 😎

If that's the case I want to know what they are putting in the water for the guys on the PS.

Matts been on the 53 man roster since after the Giants game. Josh evens replaced Reyes probably more as insurance incase Duke gets injured again. This is Longs first season practicing as a center. If he continues playing like this then our Center problems are takin care of. You never want to see an injury but you never want to give up on guys to soon like those saying we should have cut Moses after the first season and he was a bust or those when we drafted Preston saying we need to cut Murphy

If it wasn't for the fact that Hall, Bruton and Licht were all placed on IR, we wouldn't have signed the extras. Stork was signed, but due to a failed medical was released and sent back to the Patriots, who promptly released him to free agency. He's still there. As we were still a C down, Sullivan was signed but apparently is still learning the playbook. Long filled in at C late last season and was the obvious choice to take over this season.

Whitner was signed to replace Hall, and Evans was signed to replace Bruton. Ioannides was elevated from the PS to replace Golston, who was placed on IR. Blackmon went up on the depth chart, and now plays more at FS than he once did. With Fuller coming in at CB, Whitner played at SS ahead of the oft-injured Duke.

That's how I understood it when the roster changes were made, and I live in Australia. If someone who lives within the 'heart beat' can't get it right, what hope have those who live overseas?
