Almost everyone here is snarky - you just have a problem with the other guys snark :)

Please give the 'I hate this move therefore it's all Gruden's decision and the Chosen One must've been forced to accept it' argument a rest - it really sounds silly.

I don't know if this was a good call or not, but if you don't think McLovin 100% was involved in and supported the final call, you just aren't dealing in reality.

I don't think Gruden forced Scot to accept anything. I think Scot looked at the rushing "attack" from last year and drew his own conclusion.

Why bring Morris back at any cost if the coach wasn't going to use him? That's a waste of a roster space and salary numbers.

Gruden will hopefully put it together and figure it out this year. If we take a step back because there is little to know rushing game, he's probably gone.

McCl brought in some free agents last year that really didn't pan out (Knighton and Goldson).

Overall, I'd say Allen's acquisition of Hatcher was a wash, and Kearse was certainly a bust.

I think LB is still unclear, and the db situation is not great.

How many drafts do you think it'll take to get us to be consistent? This is a serious question.

Special Teams was greatly improved. Defense was improved - given the secondary injuries, our DC deserves a medal for keeping us in some of those games with a patchwork defensive backfield. QB was astronomically better. Playcalling was better. Time management was better. OL was better. So - yeah, I think we were much improved.

I'm not sure what constitutes '100% on board'? If that's a polite way of saying 'can this front office and coaching staff do no wrong in your mind?' obviously that's not my belief. You guys are impatient, understandably so. I think McLovin is solidly behind Jay Gruden and there's literally no evidence to the contrary. I think McLovin has signed off on every single personnel move made since he arrived - period. So while I have questions about some decisions (keeping LeRibeus is a recent head scratcher for me), I think the Redskins are slowly building a team we can and will be proud of - we're just not patient enough. Not every move is supposed to be a long-term addition - you can't replace the whole roster in a year, not even two...you have to have some placeholders. And even the best GM isn't going to connect with every swing. And to answer your final question - I think to build a dominant team it could take as many as 5 solid drafts.
 
I'm flabbergasted that so many are willing to give the poor play of Morris, this past season, a pass. He has regressed and the only team that was willing to give him damn near the vet minimum was a team desperate for a RB. It was not Gruden's fault that Alfred Morris would not hit the open hole, could not adequately protect the QB from a blitzing LB and never really learned to catch the ball out of the backfield.

I have been one of his biggest fans, loved the character and hard work, but my loyalties lie with the team, no individual. He wears the Blue Star now...I'm done being an Alfred Morris fan.
 
He's only be here one season.

He'd be our version of Goldson, Johnson etc for the year.

The only other alternative might be to spend a top 4 pick on a TE, or get one off the street.
 
Isn't that the 400 pound guy?

He'd probably be great for the first two games, but if he hits the "rookie wall" after about week eight, he might resemble Haynesworth laying down on the field.

I imagine he'd have a much harder time getting open in the NFL, and thereby with him being caught in traffic, he probably would have a tough time catching the ball with NFL-callibre athletic defenders so close to him.
He'd probably be only good for gimmick plays of various sorts.

If the right coaching mind can find a way to utilize this Baylor product, it will be Fear the Bear.

Actually most of the NFL scouts considering him, envision him on the interior OL, not as a TE
 
He'll be a fun story to watch. I bet some really crappy team like Cleveland signs him to sell preseason tickets.

And I suppose he could just stand there and block people, but he won't be blocking 19 year old kids. Lol.

If they ever put him into a real game, he'd be trying to block guys like Galette. He'd be winded by halftime.
 
I just read up on that guy. He's only caught three passes in his career. I could see him catching a five yard pass for a touchdown though.

Calais Campbell (it still hurts to even type that name) is 6'8, 300 pounds. And he's been great.

Maybe if this guy lost 60 pounds he could play more than 5 plays a game. Outside of that, he could be a lead blocker just down by the goal line.
 
He could be Darrel Young's replacement.
And catch 3 passes a year, just like Darrel. And all 3 for TD's, just like Darrel.
And then on the goal line, everyone thinks he's gonna block, but surprises everyone by running it in. Just like Darrel.

I imagine his best chance for success, as a Tight End or Fullback Screen. Just throw him an easy, high-percentage pass like that, and then, good luck to anyone and everyone who tries to tackle him.
In other words - the same plays we used when Brandon Banks was on offense - just on a player who is the polar opposite.

That would be a funny photo - Brandon Banks and LaQuan McGowan standing next to each other.

Here's an interesting and random piece of news.

In fact, the 15 different starting quarterbacks Cleveland has employed since 2008 have combined to win just 37 games over that span. If there was ever a low bar to clear for success as an NFL quarterback, it might be in Cleveland right now.

But why should RG3 signing with the Browns matter to Washington fans? Because Cleveland, under a new head coach, has a wide open quarterback position and an as-of-yet-undetermined away date at FedEx Field next season. There’s a reasonable chance Griffin could be back under center in Landover, playing against his old team.

Could you imagine? I'll be shocked if any team signs him....even Cleveland. But anything's possible.

My worry is that if he actually plays in Cleveland that his career will be over by week 3. I'd much rather see him in the CFL for a year or two.
 
If we can set aside the personal sniping for a moment ... the potential Vernon Davis signing sounds to me like the team is not just looking for a "extra weapon" option as they are mitigating against the Reed injury history. If Reed were go down early, we'd be looking at a TE position suddenly rendered less dangerous by orders of magnitude. No telling what Niles Paul will bring to the table at this point, and after him, there is not other "pass-catching" TE on the roster. Makes sense to me to try to find a veteran who could complement Reed while everyone is healthy, and perhaps more importantly, keep a security blanket for Cousins and the passing game should Reed go down.

Hope to hear that Davis agrees to come here for a reasonable contract. Also, I won't be surprised if we draft a young pass-catching option in the mid- to late round to groom behind Reed and Davis for down the road.
