LANDOVER, Md. – The Washington Redskins no longer need a complicated formula to determine their playoff fate. If they beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, they will reach the postseason.

The only question is: Will they be eliminated if they lose? That will be determined Sunday night. If the Eagles beat Arizona, then Saturday’s game will be for the division title. If the Eagles lose, then the Redskins can still get in with a loss Saturday so long as they win the season finale at Dallas and the Eagles lose their finale against the Giants.

2015 has already exceeded expectations for this team.

We've gone 6-2 at home and established ourselves as a team this season that will not be a doormat when opposing franchises walk onto our field. Establishing a reputation as a tough out at home is a huge step in the right direction. I believe the last time we've been able to post a 6-2 home record or better was '91, so that's saying something.

We've avoided double digit losses and matched our win total from the past two seasons.

Most importantly, we might very well have found ourselves a legitimate long-term quarterback who can play in a pro-style offense.

For me personally, we aren't a Super Bowl contender by any stretch of the imagination and I still firmly believe we need two off-seasons worth of strong drafting and free agency selections to put ourselves in a position where we can achieve some long term stability in terms of competitiveness and success.

Anything that goes our way over the last two weeks is simply gravy and a bonus for us as fans. I hope Gruden has our guys playing loose on Saturday night because truly, we've got nothing to lose or be ashamed about.

People can talk all they want about how the division is a disaster, make their jokes about the "NFC Least," etc, etc. What many don't want to acknowledge is that this team has made larger strides than any of our division foes in 2015 and that we are much improved from seasons past.

If you want to laugh at the NFC East, fine. Keep the Redskins out of the equation because we are actually the team who hasn't regressed in that division.

This sounds so confusing to me. Per nfl.com, they state that tiebreakers are decided based on records in head-to-head, division, common opponents, and then conference record.

I don't see how a loss in Philly requires a subsequent win in Dallas combined with a Giants win over Philly. A three way tie the way I see it at season's end gives us the advantage over Philly based on record vs. common opponents. However, that same three way tie would give the Giants the advantage over us based on record vs. common opponents.

Would a three way tie not benefit New York most and allow them to clinch the division?

I'll take Kiem's word, but his math doesn't add up to me. Whatever. Just beat Philly.

Said it in other threads before but I really do feel more and more like the Bucc's game was the turning point of our season. We've been a different team since then.

We've been 5-3 since that game.

The losses were the Patriots, the Panthers and the Cowboys. Basically the top two teams in the league at the time (and likely Superbowl contenders) and the the Cowboys where weird things happen!

On the whole we've just looked really solid. Yes we're flawed and not a complete team, but we are now a team where I'm starting to expect (tentatively mind you!) good things and not just doom every game we walk into.

I actually DO believe we COULD win out for the season. Really. I'm not banking on it, but I'm now thinking it's possible.
A few weeks ago I'd have said that there was almost no chance. This is the Redskins!!!!

But the lack of drama, the increasingly good and consistent play of Captain Kirk, our Defense being pretty solid and DJax and Reed lighting up the scoreboard just seems to be on an upward trend. I give credit to Gruden too, he really seems to me to be coming along nicely. I feel kinda warm with this team. Feels like a team and coach growing together and I'm hoping that it might be something special and long term. Especially if Gruden and Cousins can form a bond like Rodgers/McCarthy or Brady/Belichick.

Long may it continue! HTTR!

That Dallas loss just befuddles me. It is literally the ONLY thing keeping me from believing whole heartedly in our playoff chances. The Pats and Panthers losses mean jack at this point, those two teams are pretty much dominating the league. But the Dallas loss is just inexplicable.

Philly apparently is already talking smack about the Skins, coming off getting their asses handed to them Sunday Night. I hope Gruden posts that shit in the locker room for all to read. What a joke. I want to clinch this weekend in Philly, then go give Dallas the beatdown we should have given them a few weeks ago.

I feel like the team owes us a Dallas ass-kicking.

Key point in yesterday's game for me, was after Crowder muffed the punt. Instead of having the Bills completely steal momentum, the D had an amazing goal line stand!

These are my sentiments exactly. I wondered why I haven't felt the need to say anything. I'm usually fired up after games. However, I just felt like nothing needed to be said.

It's like a good meal or good sex. When you are done, you don't even feel like you need to say anything. You just sit there satisfied.

Because Philly and Those People from New York play eachother, there can't be a three way tie if Philly beats us.

The second tie-breaker is division record. If Philly beats us, they would have the better division record. We both play division games for our final game, so if they win out and we both finish 8-8, they have a 4-2 division record and we have a 3-3 division record. If Philly beats us and we beat Dallas and Philly loses to That Team From New York, Philly is 7-9 and we are 8-8. New York could finish 8-8 as well in that scenario. Our head-to-head, division record (3-3) and our record vs. common opponents would be the same (5-7), so it would go to the FOURTH tie-breaker, which would be conference record, which we would win (6-6 to 7-5).

... I think.

All of that said, I'm not really thinking too hard about the Division Title. All that would mean would, honestly, be yet ANOTHER loss to the freakin Seahawks in the playoffs. I need that like I need a hole in the head.

Regardless of what happens from here on out, this season has been very positive. 8-8 was really the very top end of my expectations for this team, so I'm very encouraged. On top of that, the fact that the team seems to be getting better as the season wears on is also very encouraging. That's what better teams do, and it's something we almost never do, so good for that.

Division would be nice, but next year is the year I think we should really make some noise.

They do have home field, so it's basically being called anyone's game. That line will change as the week goes on. Just don't see how Vegas gives that number since Philthy got absolutely owned by Arizona yesterday.

Now, if the defensive coach figures out that prevent defenses is a losers game, we might really improve.

Yep, stats would suggest they played prevent run most of the game too. Need to square that shiz up before facing the seagulls.
