Random Commanders Thoughts

O'Dell has a bad hamstring but he's playing...players on a team that are fighting to win play.

I'm just as frustrated.

Seeing reports that Griffin will be active for today's game.

Coincidence? I don't think so. ;)

Hedging against Kirk getting plastered, leaves Colt and an active Griff still standing. Besides, there aren't that many 'healthy" guys left to suit up for the game.
Jones being out leaves Alf getting into a rhythm by default, too bad the line is in rough shape.
DJax, Reed out, makes for more creative 'coaching' using the new guys. Getting the young guys more experience. Kirk gets to show more 'stuff'

All are expecting a loss, no? How they lose is what we'll be studying.

IF they win, holy cow what a game that'll be and yes..... that's a big if.

There would be only 3 explanations:

1. There are so many guys hurt, there wasn't anyone else they could choose to be active today :)
2. Colt is not feeling well or has some kind of injury we aren't aware of.
3. They are really worried we might need all 3.

None of those strike me as encouraging.

It's the first one. Frank Kearse is also active today. There's no way he'd be active otherwise, so the same goes for Griffin.

You're right, though: not very encouraging. Can't remember the last time the inactive list was full of actually injured players.

Got one roster spot to fill at rb in fantasy today.

Choices are:

Alfred
Thompson or
Shane Vereen NYG vs Philly

Any advice?

Serious question :

Why is gruden activating Griffin? He's obviously not going to play him and it doesn't make sense to me to activate him when the 16 million dollar risk is there.

Must be the only way to field a full roster without activating someone from the practice squad.

If that's the case that's embarrassing.

And if they did THAT I would expect Griff to show up Monday and shoot up the office lol

So, Griffin is active only because they used all 7 inactive spots on legitimate injured players

We have got to be on pace for worst ****ing 3rd quarter play EVER! It's like theres a snitch feeding opposing teams exactly what the skins will do after the half.

Worst 3rd qtr team ever

Is Morris dinged up? His ypc is pretty lame. I'm sure the line shuffling has a lot to do with it but still

Pretty ugly stats as we lose the line battle on both sides for the third week in a row:

34 net rushing yards. No, that's not a misprint. We got moved back today.

Offense averaged 4.2 yards per play (all plays). The Steelers today averaged 5.8 yards just on running plays!

This offense has very little speed and playmaking ability down the field.

I don't have anything against Jamison Crowder or Ryan Grant, they are solid developing possession receivers. You need guys like this.

But I don't see why we keep drafting possession receivers and special teamers (Evan Spencer) instead of drafting a gazelle or two that can be a threat down the field as well.

You need the right mix. We have a bunch of 5'10-5'11 and 195 receivers, but no one that is 6'2 and can run a sub 4.5.

On the other side of the ball, the defensive line had a poor game against the Jets. 221 yards given up on the ground. Chris Ivory and Devonta Freeman looked like Walter Payton in consecutive weeks.

No sacks on a quarterback in Fitzpatrick, that is 33 years old and has limited athleticism.

You knew the team couldn't blitz that much because of the situation in the secondary, but we were sold early on that the DL was a strength and their rotation was good enough to get pressure without bringing extra rushers.

Jason Hatcher finished the game with zero tackles, zero sacks, zero turnovers.

That 5 year, $27M contract he got from Bruce Allen in 2014 must really be making Scot McCloughan choke on his ballpark pretzel.

Hatcher did have a tackle...it's in his stats. He isn't one of the problems here.

Amended: he had an 'assist'.

I don't see the DL with Hatcher and Paea making the most money contributing much.

Freeman and Ivory are solid backs but neither of them is a top 5 guy in the NFL.

When you give up over 5 yards per rush, it's a good sign your defensive front is not winning many battles.

Breeland balled out today. He should be up for defensive player of the week, easily.
