I'll assume you meant to say, Kirk, has solidified his place as a career backup. Which is why I said we'd have to throw in a draft pick just to give him away. Meaning, he's worthless, as of now, as trade bait.

But I do agree, if Colt will stay, you keep him, for now. Kirk is under contract. He would have to stay. We'd be wise to keep both of them another year.

One never knows, but one things for sure, Gruden doesn't have a problem supplanting an established starter. It's something we really haven't seen in many years, and now that he's done it with Polumbus, it makes it easier for him to do it again, and sends a signal to the entire team. It's a pretty wild concept.... player doesn't produce, give his back up a go....

Well you can say that about any defense. The Seattle crew all of a sudden isn't getting the ridiculous numbers they were last year because their pass rush isn't as potent. Go across the league and it's pretty consistent that the best CB's have a good pass rush (whether that's from blitzing or D line pressure) in front of them, lousy pass rush, and the secondary gets beat up a lot more.

IMO this is a 3-5 team with or without Griffin. But holding Griffin out is just delaying the experience he needs to improve.

Neither McCoy or Cousins is taking this team to a Super Bowl so the 'cost' of starting Griffin is what exactly?

Arguing over finishing 6-10 instead of 7-9?

I really don't know if he will try to demand big money. He knows he hasn't proven he is worth it with just one good year under his belt. If he can somehow get us to the playoffs the next 2 years it's a different story. But as of right now he is not worth more than a mid tier QB

Funny Hazlet finally took the handcuffs off the alleged "held back" defense after Rak is done for the year. ☺

he's been running the same defense. he just has to back off against teams like Philly that can eat it up.

what he is worth and what he is going to ask for after having to abide the rookie contract are two different things. the point I'm making is that the Skins are gonna be confronted by the demand - count on RG's agent forcing the matter. the Skins need a sound foundation to make this BIG long-term decision.

I am not inclined to fully agree with that though. I think he is a stand up guy and that my hopes are that he will be realistic and fair when coming up for his deal. Some of these guys actually are and I am just going to hope he is one of them.

that's an interesting point-of-view.

he'll be one of the initial QBs under the rookie contract constraints to undergo this...so it'll be interesting.

the pattern in the league has been for QBs to push for big signings and then make contract mods that help the team cap.

While I don't think Robert will have any problem proving he's the future of the franchise, having an extra year to prove it will make lots of people happy.

I was really speaking about him being able to play up to his potential. He's shown he's learning to protect himself better, but I really don't worry about his injury history. More often then not, after rehabbing an injury, that area winds up even stronger, and I see a good number of injuries in the NFL as flukes.

But Pete, how is he showing he is protecting himself better? He just spent the last 5 and a half games on the sidelines. He has had 3 serious injuries in the last 5 years...are they all flukes?
