Random Commanders Thoughts

On a positive note it seems he at least knows the rules and pays attention.

Jets Special Teams Coach told Refs Patriots were Cheating
The Jets special teams won the game for them Sunday in more ways than the obvious one.
Special teams coach Ben Kotwica tipped off the officials during the game with the Patriots that Bill Belichick’s boys were breaking the new “pushing” rule, according to a source.
That led to the officials flagging the Patriots for unnecessary roughness on Nick Folk’s 56-yard field-goal attempt in overtime when Patriots rookie Chris Jones gave teammate Will Svitek a shove up the middle of the formation on the attempt.

Well I hope not...a good player does not necessarily make a good coach. He's got zero experience. But starting off as an assistant here wouldn't be bad for anyone.

I don't see why Fletcher wouldn't be a great coach. That's about all he was on the field the past 2 seasons anyway. He was basically a spectator most of the time. .

Kirk Olivadotti is coming back.

Source confirms Kirk Olivadotti is returning to Redskins to work with LBs. First-reported by @sethemerson. #Redskins

Certainly possible and maybe even probable but it would be irresponsible to give him that position without any experience whatsoever in a year that this team needs a major overhaul. Like I said, give him an assistant's role, let him learn a few years and then promote him if it pans out.

Good teams know when to move on from players who have reached their peak. We got everything we could out of London Fletcher, time to cut bait. Sounds harsh, but it's the 21st century NFL...a business. His loyalty and performance for this team should not transfer into a lifetime position on the team. I like London Fletcher, I just don't believe he's earned anything as far as a coaching position on this team. He earned the contract he got and the admiration of fans...that's it.

Dear Mr Hall, STFU.... You may have had a great season, but any player publically saying we should change the teams name doesn't deserve to wear the uniform, or play for the team. Good luck with that new contract you're looking for.

Griffin was smart enough to sidestep that question last summer.

Again, the issue with Hall has always been drama. Sometimes his play has backed up his mouth, other times not.

Gruden needs to sit Hall down and tell him the circus is over and unless he wants to come back here and address football issues only he can find another employer.

You build credibility by getting rid of the knuckleheads and loud mouths.

If you can turn some of the guys that fit into the latter category into supporters of your program, fine.

Otherwise they need to go.

Gruden needs to decide if Hall at CB or FS is worth the aggravation.

My guess is a guy like Parcells or Coughlin would likely get rid of Hall.

Meanwhile a guy like Pete Carroll seems to thrive on having a defense full of talkers and press bugs.

Settling in.

Are they really sure that sign shouldn't just have a velcro strip to attach the name?

This seachicken defense looks extremely fast, especially compared to ours.

I'd like to see the press release document template with all the review marks on.

We'd like to welcome marty schottenheimer steve spurier joe gibbs jim zorn mike shanahan Jay Gruden!

The more I see of Julian Edelman, the more I think he'd look GREAT in B&G. He only made 715K this year so I have to think he'll test the FA market. He has a 12.3 career average on punt returns and caught 105 passes this year on 151 targets and 54 of those catches were for first downs. Like Pierre Garcon, the guy is a chain mover and would be the perfect replacement for Moss in the slot.

The lesson from yesterday is rather than the smaller Edelman and Amendola you want to instead copy the Broncos with athletic and bigger receivers like Thomas and Decker that can punish defensive backs and not get effectively pressed at the line.

I'm all for Decker but I don't think he leaves Denver and even if he did I think he'd be too expensive. I don't mind the home grown approach but Silent Bob needs weapons whoo can jump in and contribute sooner rather than later. It's gonna be interesting to see where the focus lies once FA starts. I expect we'll be players but no clue as to what degree or which areas of need we concentrate on first.

That is fine for the outside guys, BD, but even Denver has a small guy in the slot.

But you start off with the outside guys with big play potential and then bring in a Welker to stir the drink.

As long as Garçon is the only outside threat the Redskins are going to have problems on third down and in the red zone.

Enter Hankerson. Hopefully he blossoms into a bona fide NFL receiver under Gruden's tutelage. At the very least, a viable red zone threat.

I like the idea of Hank, Lanky. I really do. But right now I don't trust him to stay healthy.
