Random Commanders Thoughts

Me, of course, being a stats guy, had to pull up the actual stats on this, to settle it once and for all.

GC = Games Coached
TY = Total Yawnage.
YPG = Average Yawnage Per Game

Jay Gruden - Head Coach of Washington Redskins

GC TY YPG
55 1 .018

Gruden is definitely in the top EYA (Earned Yawn Average), of all Head Coaches over the last 10 years.
I'd be far more concerned with players yawning during games, than the occasional grasp of brain oxygen from a coach.

Heed this, Brave Spear. This wizardry called stats will earn you a burning at the stake as a heretic.
Not really new though is it? :crucified:

While the yawn doesn't make me think Gruden was disinterested or anything of the sort, I tend to agree with Neo, perception is reality with most things in life these days. It's just unfortunate he's not bright enough to realize, or just doesn't care enough about how he's perceived to put his clipboard in front of his face to hide a yawn. It's that simple...

Crowder is out for tomorrow - did not even accompany the team which strikes me as curious.

You guys know what ‘involuntary' means, right? :)

It was not a good look but honestly another poster here said it was probably due to being up all night trying to figure out how to win with a new group of players at key positions. I believe that to be the case.

If a player isn't there, he can't play, and if he can't play, he can't make his injury any worse. Just having someone hanging around plays on your mind and the thought of him playing makes for a difficult decision. The possible lack of sleep thinking about whether to play him or not could induce a yawn, and we can't have that, can we?

Make jokes about the Cowboys, Eagles, and Giants guys.

It's funnier then.

In my opinion. [emoji849]

Why are they all the same?

They didn't. The Redskins moved Deangelo Hall back to the active roster, not Mo Harris. Given the sluggishness of the offense, I'm surprised they didn't bring up Harris, but perhaps they aren't as dazzled by him as Skins fans are. I suppose they are putting faith in the possibility that Doctson and Pryor or both can pick up the pace.

They can always activate Quick! Davis is going to have to shoulder the load at TE, with Sprinkle the only other TE on the roster. Will Thompson be used solely as RB or will he fill in for Crowder as PR/KR? If not, what other options do we have?

We don't get the game down here. We start with the Philly game then we have the Brokebacks, finishing up with the Rayders/Dolphins game.

Gruden seems to have a lot of confidence in Sprinkle.

CT is already the primary kick returner. Personally I would prefer for him not to handle any return duties. He is much too valuable for those suicide missions.

Harris returned some punts in the preseason, and looked a lot more comfortable doing it than Crowder. Who needs to be replaced on punts.

And, I too, don't want Thompson returning kickoffs, or punts.
We need 1 guy who does both, well.

Harris has shown he can at least catch the ball, can you say the same for Pryor? Doctson?

And as far as moving the chains, isn't that the goal here? Staying on the field,moving the ball?

No Reed or Paul,no Crowder.....Beggars can't be choosers....

It doesn't matter what Harris can do - he's not on the active roster.

But you can't do that, if all of your receivers are that kind of guy.
Then the defense takes away the short field, because they don't respect your deep ball.
You always have to have a deep threat, to balance things out, and spread things out.
And right now, we have no-one that we can truly call a consistent deep threat.
