PFF Most valuable rookie classes 2020

And I still hold out hope that Saadiq Charles is going to be a starting NFL OL going forward. He needs to overcome the injury bug but has first round talent.

i agree completely, i just dont know if it's at Tackle. I think he's gotta move inside.

Well, we need help at OG too.

I sure wish we had another year with Scherff under contract to show he could stay healthy before we had to pay him.

Right now, I would have to say as a GM I would let him move on at age 29.

Have we seen any hints from Scherff or his agent lately about his feelings on staying now that fair winds may finally be stirring here?

Would love to see him stay, but only if he's willing to accept a realistic contract, not go pure mercenary like so many others.

It's going to depend on cost and Sherff hasn't played a 16 game season in 3 years

Missing 3 hurt this year... Had he played 16 I think his contract is signed the same day as Chase.

The other factor is the salary cap may be frozen or go down and there may not be a market for $16M a year guards in 2021.

Quarterbacks and pass rushers as well as corners will still get paid but for a number of positions you are going to see contracts that are 'humble pie' for a number of solid players.

Absolutely.

The owners and players union negotiated earlier in the year that cannot go BELOW $175mil so AT WORST it goes down $23mil. The fact that in 2019 the NFL logged over 17 MILLION fans in attendance, and this year it took til week 17 in order to hit 1 million, I can't see the cap doing anything but going down, with game day ticket sales being a major contributor to the revenue sharing that influences the salary cap.

I don't think Scherff's number is going to be maxed out, or even as big as it could have been LAST offseason.. We will still have to pay, just maybe not quite as much.
