I know there are a lot of mixed emotions about Peter King - for a lot of reasons, some legit while others seem less so to me. Still, it's hard to argue that the man has been a huge force in the media covering the NFL for a long time.

Yes, I have hard feelings about some of his comments about great Redskins from the past who I believe deserve the immortality brought by induction into the Hall of Fame (or at least the Hall of the Solidly Above Average).

However, I've also spent countless hours pouring over his MMQB column, reading the stories behind games, teams, players, and even individual plays, that no other reporter was getting.

I have loved his "10 Things I Think I Think" section since I read it the first time.

In a business where guys don't seem to know when to say when (Chris Berman anyone?), King has recognized that now is the time and that there might be more important things in life. Kudos to him for that.

His next-to-final column is a good read, if you have a few minutes.

Glad to see him go. I have zero respect for the man for the actions he has taken against almost every single redskins player up for the HOF. He is a biased POS hope he enjoys his retirement and stays away from all HOF related things

It always feels like the journalists end up feeling like they're bigger than the game and want to influence it instead of just reporting it.

Adam schefter is in that category now, too. I hardly read anything about sports past the actual quotes from the players/coaches because it's all nonsense.
