According to the police scanner:

Tactical teams are in place, and they are awaiting more, at some area in watertown where they believe they have the suspect pinned.

The media is getting in the way and causing confusion, which is obviously great :rolleyes:

They're getting ready to move in, but are concerned about suicide vests. They're taking their time while trying to hold down other areas in case they're wrong about this being the guy.

Citizens have been evacuated from the area.

Cops (with big f---ing guns) have surrounded a house and are yelling for the suspect to come out.
 
They're requesting the demolitions squad, they believe they've found a rocket in the basement.

edit: not all houses evacuated. they're doing house to house searches on the street.

Scanner - a suspect apparently has large, white backpack with him.

this is in an industrial park, apparently separate from the house-to-house search. they've got multiple locations they're doing searches on to make sure they're not too invested in one area in case they're wrong.

at least that's my take on it, it's hard to follow the scanner and work and post at the same time ;)

NBC reports that two ppl taken from custody from home where the men lived. Not suspects (yet), but taken into custody. One man, one woman.

Boston Police are asking people to stop tweeting/posting what they hear on the scanner, as it could endanger officers.

Apparently CNN was broadcasting tactical positions even after being asked not to - man I hope this is the end of that terrible network.
 
This is effing INSANE. Wow. Its like a Tom Clancy novel came to life.
 
There is an almost surreal quality to this. Yet is all too palpably real.

Like Lanky said it's almost like watching an action movie-but, again, it's not a movie. It's real.

The vids of the firefight-that's what it is, given the suspects knowledge of tactics and weaponry-are spellbinding.

From Chechnya? A lot of knowledgeable guerrilla warfare types from that area given their history of conflict with the former Soviet Union and more recently Russia.

Geez.
 
Heard they have suspect #2 on the ground at gunpoint...we'll see if this is actually true or not.

EDIT: NOT suspect number two, its another dude with a device strapped to his chest.
