Our U.S. Immigration Journey

My wife has her citizenship interview tomorrow. We are both anxious and nervous as this is a huge moment for us that has taken 6 years to get to. She is as prepared and ready as one could possibly be, but until it’s over…it’s not over.

Yeah, we would. I used to know an immigration lawyer but haven't spoken to her in ten years. I could forward you her name, but I don't know how much she could help.
 
Married to a woman in Colombia and got legally divorced in Colombia. The US is not recognizing my divorce. Because of this they denied her visa. There are telling me that I am still married to this woman. She has since gotten remarried has become a citizen and has children here in the US.
 
You don’t have the divorce decree from the court there?

Have they said why? Is it in Spanish? My wife had documents from Russia and they needed to be ‘officially’ translated to English.

Meanwhile, my wife still isn't sure she wants to become a citizen. She's been here working for 7 years now after we lived together in the Philippines for several years.

Therefore whenever we go to Europe she has to go to Atlanta for a visa, and when we fly to the Philippines we can't take a 3 day in Japan or Korea because she isn't allowed there either.

I guess I need to start motivating her to get it done. She has her permanent residency for 10 more years so I guess she doesn't think she needs to get it but we travel every year now.

Our main motivation was the freedom to live our lives as we wish without government interference. Our plan all along was to spend 6 months of the year in Florida and 6 months in Finland. Being a GC holder she is only allowed to be out of the US for 180 days per year without the need for a reentry visa, which is both a pita and expensive and results in us having to carefully count days to be in compliance. Add in the time and experience of her going through border control when returning to the US and gaining citizenship was a no-brainer for us.
