Are you serious? Dude looks like a bust if you could call him that as a mid round pick. Investing in skill positions would’ve been paying an elite athlete or 2 in Free agency and drafting several more.

How about a real tight end that can break tackles and not fall down, how about an NFL quality running back in the building, maybe a 1st / 2nd round wide out.

For all the moaning about percentage of the cap and Peters sticking to his guns, he didn’t do anything of note to improve his skill positions… we just got old…

E. Safety play has been really bad -- its one of the easiest poisitons to fix in FA

F. Schedule looks in theory easier. Almost impossible to have injuries to this extent

G. Terry will be over his hangover that he's the best Wr in the league and bullet proof from injuries and declining production in the 30s.

H. I doubt Quinn will double down on the super easy camp, am playing no one in the preseason style

I agree skinsinparadise . On the WR/DE, the silver lining is we are going to suck so bad this year that we may be able to grab a stud prospect like Bain or Bailey.

I will also add that, for the positions we need, FA generally looks to have a lot of options for many of those and not all those guys will be resigned by their current teams. Off ball LB has 10+ options that will be an upgrade over the guys we have now

But I'll say in Grant's defense he does like Jayden judging by my listens of his show. But Grant comes off like he really really really wants to say hey I loved Maye, you fans gave me a hard time for it and said I was wrong to want him at #2, but now i am vindicated and I'll tell you over and over and over again how good Maye is. Grant isn't going as far as saying they should have taken Maye. But he's more or less implying it with every post on Maye.

He also referenced people who “try to act as if they care about the team, they aren’t fans of the team by a stretch already. They are a bunch of guys who did not like us having drafted Jayden, they wanted us to draft somebody else.”

Maybe it was directed at Grant. Hopefully it was directed at Grant. I hold a very low opinion of Grant already, so if he is Brian’s target, go get him tiger.

The Terry deal should’ve been done pre-draft. Period. Either overpay him or move on. It wasn’t that hard a decision. NFL negotiations happen every year, it’s not a novel concept.

The important part was the development of your QB, that’s been my position all summer. Adam screwed it up holding to his guns and waiting till September. If he knew he wanted to get younger and not overpay, pull a Bill Belichick move on.

I told you guys how tight coverage would be without Terry, and most said “screw Terry, Jayden’ll be fine without him…” well he’s certainly not!

I get the point, I'm just arguing that if you go back to last offseason and look at the QBs that were available (and willing to sign in a situation where you have NO chance of taking over as the permanent starter) - you don't really find names better than Mariota. Sure, if you armchair QB it, you can say that guys like Daniel Jones or Joe Flacco are better, but that is only after you've seen them play this year (with significantly better rosters).
 
I will repost. Honestly, we've failed Jayden. Last game he played without our top 3 WRs. He's played most of his other games without his 1st and 3rd wr. Luke got hurt on the opening kickoff. Now he's playing without 3 of his top 4 WRs. For most of this season we are playing with guys who have done nothing in the league and wouldn't play on any roster in the nfl. We are playing guys like, lane, moore, Tay Martin, Burks, etc.

These guys have done nothing. Deebo is the only one and everyone in the offseason said that he's more of a gadget guy than a true wr. This is the biggest difference with Jayden. McLaurin is a true number one and guys like dyami and Zaccheaus are true nfl WRs who will have major roles on other teams like they are doing now. We literally have Deebo and no other accomplished receiver. The other only accomplished receiver is Chosen and we benched him after a great game. I don't get it.

Ertz is old and he's thrown multiple passes to Bates, the blocking te. Even if the season is over, we have to get him some receivers to continue his development. Lane is just as trash as our defense right now. We went out there every game last year with McLaurin, dyami and Zaccheaus. Also brown when he was healthy. It's unrealistic to play the same with the massive drop-off to unproven guys.

I don't think that we need someone better than Mariota. He fits the system perfectly and Kliff almost to seem to damn near like calling plays for him more than Jayden. You honestly can't find one better than Marcus for a backup. Him and Jayden don't have receivers. Dyami and Zaccheaus are accomplished. Luke, lane, Martin, Burks, and these guys wouldn't be playing receiver on most rosters.

That's the biggest difference between last year and this year. We went into every game with McLaurin, dyami and Zaccheaus. Weapons. Now we have guys who have done nothing except Deebo who has never been considered a prototypical wr. More of an elite gadget guy

Yeah Jayden has basically been thrown to the fire, cooking in Hells Kitchen with Gordon Ramsey yelling at him, and he's doing it with one hand tied behind his back.

Drake Maye is in McDonalds every week and showing up the fry cooks.

Will see how it all unfolds over the years but this season isn't apples to apples comps.

 
If the dislocation is a fracture then he's out for the season and needs surgery. If it's not a fracture then he's out 4-6 weeks, no surgery

Only way that schedule could be any easier is if they played us.

That’s why my original post pointed to next years draft. I’m not playing the hindsight game. We’ve learned this season that JD5 is injury prone. Time may go on to prove that not to be the case, but given the information we have in-front of us, we really don’t want to have to depend on Mariota to play significant time every year. The guy is 32 years old and his greatest asset may be his legs. That’s a very bad bet.

If there is a way to upgrade our backup QB position in the offseason, I'm fine with that, but it has to be a wise allocation of resources. Most of the solid backup QBs in the NFL are former 1st round QBs. The team would be crazy to use a draft pick on QB next year with all of the other needs. If an opportunity presents itself in free agency, that's a different story. But again, I don't think there are that many options that are clearly better.
