I’m not worried about it. We’re the better team going somewhere. And I’m finding myself saying more and more we have the better coaches and it’s not close.

This game will be an interesting gauge on where we are as a team in some ways. Yes, the Giants are trash. But they always play us hard, and we've already played them once early in the season.
We SHOULD blow them into the weeds, so I'm really interested to see how our Offense and Defense have progressed since we last met.

Their RB Tracy is in concussion protocol so I'm not worried.

Heh. I'm always worried. I think I got that from Gibbs. In the glory years, he found a way to make an 0-13 team sound like a Super Bowl contender that we had to be perfect against to have a chance.

As I mentioned in another thread the Steelers game gives us some do's and don'ts in this rematch.

Pittsburgh consistently failed to pressure Jones on third downs and allowed him to complete a number of chunk plays downfield before Watt finally got to him in the fourth quarter.

Also, the Steelers defense over-pursued badly and a cutback runner like Tracy was driving them crazy. Pittsburgh's defense gets a lot of hype but their linebackers and safeties did not have a good game tackling the run.

On the other side of the ball I don't know why Tomlin kept calling for running plays up the middle on first down. Dexter Lawrence beat the double teams and the Steelers were left with 2nd and 8 or 9 regularly, essentially wasting downs.

Meanwhile, the Giants never really did figure out how to stop #30 on the quick screen when the TE made his block.

The Giants corners are weak, they don't tackle well and downfield it's some shorter guys trying to make plays.

Some major players with DNP designations but hopefully that’s just being careful…

I’d very much like to see them put the shackles on Nabors this time some how! He ran rampant over us last time!

The way he talked was so classic. The media would ask a question like: "How do you prepare for a team like Tampa Bay? They are winless through 8, are there concerns on a letdown." His answer would always include the classic Joe Gibbs giggle, and then inevitably: "Well all the teams in the league are good" and the talk about how every team can beat you, and they do good things, and he'll single out players who can hurt you... exactly.
It was predictable and it was also masterfully done. It came off very naturally - it really sounded like he believed it. I think the secret was he always DID. Humility can keep you honest that way.

While, as a fan with baggage, this game worries me, my head says that we should walk it.

We faced them in Week 2 coming off the Tampa loss to open the season, and before this team really established an identity. We're a VERY different team to that one now.

Our defense has stepped up considerably since week 2. They aren't elite, but they are playing with more cohesion and understand where the weaknesses are and have done a pretty good job of limiting them (apart from the buxzzsaw that was Baltimore).

And our Offense has really stepped up it's game considerably. I'm willing to put their dip in performance against the Bears down to Jayden playing hurt, but outside that we've been really efficient. I think Jayden with five more games under his belt and another week to rest those ribs, will be better equipped to take advantage of the Giants. I think Kliff also will have learned lessons both from that game and from subsequent games.

The Giants have plateaued at their level since week 2. They're fiesty, but have all the same issues as usual and are stuck as they are until the off season.
Washington had got better since we played in Week 2. We're ascending and they aren't.

My brain says that this should be a convincing win. Maybe a blow out. But my gut says it'll be closer than I want it to be.

I'm going for a Washington victory, maybe something like 28-17

One thing to keep in mind… there was mention in the pod of JD being ‘healthier’ for this one… the nature of Jayden’s injury is that it may not be possible for it to heal in season. Damaged or torn cartilage between the ribs would probably require an extended layoff to completely heal. With all the twisting, throwing, and well - contact required of an NFL QB, I am skeptical he’ll heal up significantly during the season. Best case scenario, he protects it as best he can and manages the pain so he can continue to stay on the field and be relatively effective.

Worst case scenario obviously would be for it to get worse or becomes restrictive enough that they decide to sit him until it has fully healed.

I think it’s likely an injury he can play through. But I wanted to give my 2 cents regarding it fully healing in-season as I think that is not likely.

What foods is everyone tailgating to? It will be either Reuben's or the Monte Cristo sandwiches for us.

NY Giants foods - Deli meat subs, ethnic foods, Reuben’s, Monte Cristo

Until we handle the Giants like the Cardinals or Panthers, I'm worried about this game. I know its a new roster (mostly) and new coaches, etc. But the Redzone issues again last week are worrisome.

I get that when you are in the redzone, the offense is now working in a restricted space, but it also feels like we restrict ourselves with the playcalling there. I'd like to see Kliff spread things out from sideline to sideline and be more aggressive than running BRob into the middle with the defensive stacked there on 1st down. Assume that it's 3rd and long on that 1st down and give that a shot.

Beyond Daniels, the most concerning point to me here in the injury report is the status of LT.

Lucas was seen in a walking boot, usually not a sign that he's going to play the following week.

Concussion protocol is not usually something that catches left tackles (I don't see a lot of OL vs. running backs, receivers, linebackers, DBs, etc.), but it appears somehow Brandon Coleman really got clocked in the Panthers game. I anticipated this was going to be a one game miss, but he seems to be coming along slowly.

That brings us back to Trent Scott.

He is a potential blind spot for the offense and one that will have to be schemed around. The problem?

The Giants already have Dexter Lawrence inside at DT and the effective counter to Lawrence is to allow penetration and run away from him to the outside.

With Scott, is the line going to hold up for that?

It appears Brian Robinson may have to once again get yards on his knack for powering through initial contact.

agreed on all of this. The Giants ESPN reporter was on Bram's show this week. They lost their best OT also and have other key guys dinged up, or already out. Nabers had a rough game recently and you know he wants to bounce back.

Andrew Thomas is gone for the season true, and if Washington doesn't do what Pittsburgh did in the first half, ie just rush 4 and drop 7, then I think we can have a big day.

You overload an average offensive line with a LT claimed off the practice squad with stunts and some creative blitzes early and these guys start to hang their heads.

At 2-6 it's not hard to do. We have been there before :rain:
