Official Game Thread - Week 7 - Commanders @ Cowboys

We need a legit pass catching TE. Every franchise QB in the NFL who has had a lot of success has that safety valve guy at TE, a legit receiving threat who scares the opposing defense.

Ertz is a very good TE, but the time has come to find a younger, scarier replacement for him. We need this badly.

The frustrating thing there is, we may already have that guy in Sinnott, but they refuse to take touches away from Ertz to find out.
 
I don’t think Sinnott is that kind of player - he strikes me as more of a Logan Paulsen type guy. But you are right, how can we know? He would be a good example of a player who needs to be given more opportunities (as Die Hard is arguing) the rest of the way to see what we really have in him.

They didn't identify and reach so high on Sinnott because they thought he was Logan. He was a guy who could be used all over the field, can create mismatches. His athleticism made him fun to watch if he had the ball in his hand, especially if loose downfield versus DB's.

I get that. But believing and being are two different things. Theres no evidence so far that Sinnott can be a real offensive threat at least from what I’ve seen. Maybe that will change.
 
I don't know why,,but I feel Yankoff would make the most of his opportunity if given one at TE1. He has that Kittle fire in him imo.

As for JD,, I think he's going to be fine because of his inability to want to fail, and strive for perfection. Missing Deebo did him zero favors as well. If we had a defense, we win the Bears game and possibly the Falcons game.

It's gotta come through FA and the good news is that there will be some out there who are upgrades to Ertz. I call this out in the FA thread
 
So many frustrating things from this game, but the offensive play calling drives me nuts. Kliff continues to run it up the gut way too much, when he can see it’s not working and it brings more pressure on JD. Throw the damn ball more, you might get a PI call, but yesterday, you were not getting a first down. They need to completely scrap the game plan until more players are back. It’s like he knows 2 plays to call.
 
The strangest rating might now might be the Washington Commanders at No. 7 despite a 3-4 record and a bad 44-22 loss to the Dallas Cowboys this week. The reason is that the Commanders were phenomenal in their three wins. All three games currently have DVOA ratings over 70%, although that could change as opponent adjustments develop. The Commanders are below 0% for all four losses and have the highest variance of any team in the NFL this year. The total package is better than you think, but really inconsistent, and of course they have a lot of injury issues including starting quarterback Jayden Daniels.

It was a good week for the rest of the NFC East, at least when it comes to the DVOA ratings. Dallas climbed eight spots from 17th to eighth after beating the Commanders soundly. The Eagles moved up four spots to No. 11 with a victory over Minnesota. The Giants drop a spot after their close 33-32 loss to Denver, but their actual rating is up a couple of percentage points. They just got passed on the table by the suddenly hot Carolina Panthers, who are now up to 21st overall.

I do not know about DVOA, and I would not trust any metric that ranks us that high, but I do agree with the overall summary of where we are. Sometimes we look like the team that made a run last year, other times we look like Ron Rivera’s team from the year before. Potentially good, but wildly inconsistent and injured.

The Football Outsiders, the DVOA guys, hate this team, lol usually it works against us. So if they are saying this is a high variance team -- high highs, low lows, I'll trust it.
 
I guess we made he Cowboys look so good they think they are a player away now.
