Please let's not act like he's arrived. It's just year 2 and so far, he's not even played up to year one.
Don't know if this is apples to apples.
But Grant-Danny talked about how Terry has come off different with the media this year -- they speculated on maybe he didn't like how they covered the contract.

I've been plenty negative about things this season.
But as for Jayden, got ZERO concerns aside from durability. He's the real deal. He's the only reason why I think this team is in a SB window. And most fans seem to agree. Heck even among the cynics from the local media who cover this team -- they all 100% agree.

This idea that once you get the Qb,it cures all ills , is just foolish. This roster is as far away from the Superbowl as the Giants are.

I’ve joked that AP had himself a complacent Mike Elias type offseason (Orioles GM). Rather than being aggressive with $$$ to spend, he focused too heavily on trying to sign old spare parts like Miller, Jones, Brown, Wise, etc to 1 year deals. I believe Kinlaw was the only player he handed a multiyear deal to.
Yes, many teams overpay in FA and ultimately regret doing so but, given the window we are in, we should’ve taken some more shots on goal with bigger multiyear contracts for difference makers on D

Meh. It's pretty typical that injuried players don't travel. In fact, Puka probably only traveled due to it being in London and just wanted that experience. He probably wouldn't have traveled in the states and even if he did, it's still not typical

With all due respect, SIP. Do you really think this team is in a SB window? I think that Peters needs to use draft picks over the next 2 to 3 years, build this team and hopefully it leads to a SB rather than using the funds now to go for it. Yes, there are injuries but don't you think and infusion of youth, getting rid of Lattimore and Payne after this year might be the way to go?

I don't know man, the playoff team last year lost to a Cooper Rush led Cowboys team that wasn't a world beater either.

I think the bigger concern is we have REAL, year-long trends that are very present and unchanging. We also have certain moves in the offseason (Connerly as a 1st round pick after already investing in the OL to get Tunsil, this following Coleman last year; leaving the Defense bare) that may also be showing up.
I didn't expect the defense to make big leaps. I hoped the Offense would look reasonably strong due to the Kliff + JD connection + better OL, but Kliff's playcalling rankled me last year so I didn't expect a big postseason run. Now if we make the postseason I will be ecstatic. I actually think that is possible still. This league is a week to week league still. The question is, will these coaches wake up to their issues? I don't know if they will. Maybe in November.

Random musings:
Going to the NFCCG was the worst thing that could have happened last year aside from a career-ending injury to Daniels. Aside from the obvious (high draft order and tougher schedule this year), last year's result seems to have made the organization feel that they could "just roll the ball out and play" behind Daniels and that everything would just somehow work out. Seems like they almost think they earned some sort of "free pass" or grace period.
This team is bereft of talent nearly everywhere except for the sport's most valuable position. Not only is this true of the starters, but there are virtually no high quality reserves (save again for the QB position). This is not entirely the fault of the current regime (see: Rivera, Ron for details), but the reality is that they have not played the (shitty) hand that they were dealt very well at all. I'm not a Swiftie, but Taylor said it best: "Band-Aids don't fix bullet holes."
Building on the above two statements, was it delusion or hubris that led this staff to think that they could enter the season and be successful with obvious, glaring, gigantic holes at LB, the secondary, and (very arguably) kicker? This teams is so poorly constructed that it is being exploited at will by some of the league's worst teams. What was the thought process (or lack of one) that allowed this deeply-flawed final product to see the field? I know that not everything can be fixed in one offseason, but it certainly seems as if they could have done a better job here. A year of Daniels' rookie deal has been wasted thus far, and it is no sure thing that Daniels himself will make it through the year without an even more serious injury if current conditions persist.
Injuries are a part of the game. Coaches need to modify schemes and playcalling to adjust to the talent (or lack thereof) that is on the field to give the team the best chance of success. This is elementary football. SF and TB have continued to win in spite of the numerous injuries they have sustained. The fact that WAS has so comprehensively failed to do so is a significant indictment of DQ and his staff.
For those doubting Daniels, I can understand your frustration. I personally feel that he is the real deal. I don't really believe in excuses, but I can't think of too many QBs who could've produced significantly more than Daniels this season given the skill position players, OL performance, and lack of defensive support that he has been saddled with this year. He's trying to do it all and that has, predictably, led to more turnovers and two injuries in the first half of the season. This organization was extremely fortunate when Daniels fell to them. Swap Daniels with Mr. Mani-Pedi and it is a distinct possibility that WAS would be winless and CHI would be undefeated.

Great QBs can make players like Austin Collie productive. Jayden is flat out missing on throws to open receivers. We all know this team won't win unless he plays at a high level and we just have not seen this all season. I'm hardly giving up on Jayden Daniels but the truth is right now he is not the QB I thought he was.
No one in the league saw him coming last year. Now they know and are prepared.
Caught alot of flak on this board last season for saying "let's not get out the annointing oil just yet" when it comes to 5.
He hasn't arrived as a true franchise QB yet,IMO. Hope he can get there but he's got a ways to go.
I think the fanbase getting upset when media outlets don't put him in the top echelon of current Qbs can stop now.
Just leave the hype on the side of the road and see how/where he grows.
It's practically a cliche to see the QB's rookie contract when they are elite to be a SB window. They were one game away from the SB last year. I know in the throes of an emotional loss it feels like the sky is falling. But no, I don't think the better time to win a SB is when Jayden is getting paid 70 million a year.

But Peyton Manning didn’t make Austin Collie look good in his second season. Manning in his second season was throwing to the likes of Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne, behind the running game of Edgerin James.
If we go back and look at all the greats, I doubt you will find an example of a guy persevering through a comparable roster to Daniels.
I’m not shocked at all that incompletions have gone up when throwing to relative nobodies.

Mahomes doesn't look the same without WRs early this season, some talk if he's losing it. He gets his weapons back and starts killing it again. Shocking.

Advanced stats detail how bad things are for Mahomes when it comes to his wide receivers, as he's fifth in expected points added (or EPA, as the cool kids refer to it) lost due to wide receiver errors and drops. This stat proves that, even though he's the quarterback and deserves a fraction of the blame for sure, Mahomes isn't the problem offensively. He's missing two of his starting wideouts, while Rashee Rice has three more weeks of his suspension to serve and Xavier Worthy is dealing with an injury. Hopefully, Worthy returns soon, and we all know when Rice is returning, so that'll be huge having him back.
The more I think about it. I don't think this is a hard fix in 2026.
A. Draft a WR high.
B. Safeties in FA are generally cheap. Sign one.
C. Lattimore salary dump. Sign a FA corner.
D. Draft or sign a DE
E. Let Wagner go and sign a FA LB
I like the O line. Conerly should improve over time. I like the RB room. I think the interior of the D line is good. Could use another edge albiet Armstrong is coming along and ditto Martin.
I'd add the biggest plus is to for them to see they don't walk on water -- Peters, Quinn, Jayden. All are great at what they do. But it feels like it went to their head some -- more so Peters than anyone. Finlay said on his podcast yesterday that he heard from an NFL guy that he trusts, will see what Quinn and Petewrs do when they don't have a lucky horseshoe up their butt. I think they will react well to adversity but will see.
