Official Game Thread - Week 6 - @ Atlanta Falcons

All jokes aside, what he’s going through is heart wrenching

His wife tweeted that their daughter passed away. Best I can tell is it was their current pregnancy. Can’t tell if she was born very early and didn’t make it, still born, or never made it that far. Absolutely heart breaking.

ST already posted about it.....

Big question of the day is whether Lucas played well enough to be given a shot to start at right tackle?

Need a hug emoji or a crying 😿 me for that. Can’t imagine the pain of losing your baby.

Daron Payne dislocated his finger on that play late in the game. Apparently set it back in place himself

Is Arthur Smith a disciple of Ron Rivera?
My comment to my family after the game was that we finally found a coach dumber than the Commanders coaches. That guy is awful. It reminds me to never say it can’t get any worse, because it can definitely get worse.

It actually feels good to win the ugly one. Watching around the league and even watching this game tonight, there has been a lot of ugly football today. Finding a way to win is a good thing.
Agreed. Not playing their best, but still getting the win is a good thing.

Standouts to me yesterday were the special teams and the turnovers. I think the defense against run was overall good except for a stretch in the second half when the defense had been out there a ton because the offense wasn't moving the ball. But somehow they let Ridder pass all over them for his second 300 yard passing game. They made up for that with the interceptions (two of which were late in the game when we knew he was passing). Some of that is likely on JDR because it seemed like when there was designed pressure (with a blitz), Ridder made mistakes.

Howell played fine without making mistakes. He seems to be making faster reads but tends to want to pull down and run when something's not there instead of throwing it away which leads to some of the sacks. Speaking of sacks...Atlanta had 4 all year then 5 yesterday. We are great for a defensive team's stat line.

Once again, EB started off pass heavy and then went to a lot of running in the second half. I think the running was a mix of good and meh. I'd like to see a breakdown of the runs by formation because it feels like some of those didn't have a prayer from the beginning.

All in all, we got timely turnovers and the offense scored when they were given good field position. That part you can't complain about at all.

Was I the only one like this when J. Davis lined up one on one vs Bijan prior to the int?

I absolutely HATE it when we run Robinson from a shotgun formation. Let him run downhill and punish defenders. We had him dancing around in the backfield way too much. Some of that was on him but most of it was playcalling. It was bothering me all day.

Yep..I called out a few of those plays in chat yesterday. The dancing killed me!

I think Rivera is out and he knows it.

The game felt like a full speed preseason with the decisions both teams were making throughout the game. The final result felt like a total afterthought to just trying out plays. Which I actually kind understand.
