Official Game Thread - Week 5 - Commanders @ Chargers

I'll admit the first quarter got me angry. Every single defensive play included at least one broken tackle. It was just embarrassing.

Once we got going we hit turbo.

Liked how Whitt brought pressure today and how it changed the defense.
Yeah that was so pleasant to see. Now, was it just because their OL was injury riddled or is it him showing his cards moving forward for all opponents?

They really seemed to just wake up. All of a sudden things got clicking. I remain convinced we can play with anyone when we are on our game.

The tackling seemed to improve drastically mid game too for some reason. Started off the game looking like last week where theyd slip the first tackle and gain 7+.
Then we started wrapping up and swarming

I don't know what to think sometimes because a lot of it is about attitude.

I've been in some very terrible situations in my life and I've always thought positive and strived for positive outcomes. Almost most of the times I have been successful.

The negativity around here sometimes drives me crazy.
It’s hard, but for those who actually witnessed the glory days and Gibbs 1.0, and the almost taste of it last season, it’s passion more than total negativity. At least for me.

It felt like the D settled in and gained confidence after that 50 yard bomb. This team thrived last year on good vibes and belief in Jayden to make big plays. Maybe that’s back now all of a sudden, because we hadn’t seen it yet this year and we’ve all been waiting for the switch to flip

For me this game really feels like a sign. We have weathered the storm and are now out on the other side. September truly was our preseason, but we are now 3-2 five games in and EVERYTHING is still on the table right now this season.

We get everybody back healthy and this team is going to be very very dangerous.

I think winning today makes up for losing to the falcons last week. I can't believe the Chargers couldn't could find a way to put up more than 10 points on our defense. Those turnovers were huge. Their OL must be terrible and we had 5 sacks.

We need to get a couple turnovers every week. The Chargers were moving the ball but those 3 turnovers (they turned it over on 4th down too) and their big penalties killed them.

The game after the first quarter looked like 2 completely different teams were playing.

That's why I've been avoiding these threads...well that, and it's too distracting. I do, however, enjoy the first few pages of meltdown posts the next day, after a win...

In my head, I'm going to start calling Dorance Armstrong "Elephantiasis". Every time I see him, he whips out a gigantic sack.

Great turnaround, I think this was JD's best game of the year. Our offense looked stagnant and then we converted that 3rd and 16 on our first TD drive and it seemed to create some confidence, from there we started executing in the pass game. Its crazy the D held them scoreless the last 3 Qtrs after getting rolled in the 1st. This is a quality win.

Deebo really is a special player. He is going to be expensive next year, though.

:indian-chief: The Rook
I like Deebo.

But man, he’s got a big ass. :p

He’s in terrific shape but dude is a freaking horse.

Bill was great.

However I think you have to give a ton of credit to the OL for their blocking and Kliff was REALLY creative with the run scheme.

The one run which was blown up was some sort of a counter play and everything got discombobulated, but they did similar things all game and they worked great.

And Bill gets credit for hitting the creases and holes hard and squeezing through them, and also getting some tough yards.

Really great pick by Peters.

I really can’t wait to see what the whole offense looks like with Cosmi and McLaurin back. In theory they should just keep getting better and better.

Said this in the chat- feels like we swapped our expected win against the falcons for a win today that was unexpected. I'll take it.

Surprised Ertz wasn't more involved with Jayden being back.
I think Ertz might be even a step slower than last season. He’s just stuck in the mud when he runs. They need a TE with some speed.
