Official Game Thread - Week 5 - Browns @ Commanders

Brown has been ruled out of Sunday's Week 5 game due to a groin injury, The Washington Post's Nicki Jhabvala reported on Friday.

Brown was initially limited in practice on Wednesday to start the week but was downgraded to DNP on Thursday. It's unknown, however, if the receiver re-aggravated the groin issue in practice on Wednesday.

Allegretti and BRob were my biggest concerns. Seems like both will go

I'm officially having fun this season. For so long, this is a game we play down to the opponent and lose and it was a little rough during the first half. Loved how in the post game interview, Daniels didn't sugar coat the fact that they struggled on offense this game. Daniels was less accurate, Ertz and McLaurin had drops, we fumbled the ball a lot, and yet we DOMINATED!

The defense came to play the whole game. The offense won all the important moments. Our kicker is still perfect.

As I said FUN!

Yep, and no crying about the refs making a bad call in a close game, because despite the mistakes they still dominated the entire game.

I've started planning my Sunday's around them again. Sooo much fun!

Next 5 games only the ravens concern me and it’s only because they have Derek Henry.

Just crazy how effective the offense is

at a minimum, we have a guy who can duplicate what Lamar Jackson can do, so the defense should see quite a bit of it over the next few practice days.

A few thoughts on tonight’s game…and the season so far in general.

This was a champions game. What I mean by that is, as alluded to earlier by SkinsFTW, this was a mistake ridden game where we still dominated. This the kind of game I’ve seen the Chiefs or 49ers get done. Where there’s a confidence in the players where they’re like ‘okay, so fumble/interception. No biggie. Let’s just get it done.’

Nothing seems to phase this team yet. How many times have we seen the kinds of turnovers we had tonight completely derail us as a team. Not tonight.

Second, and this might just be my addled brain (I’m not very well tonight. Lack of sleep is a real issue!) but this year FEELS just very different. For the first time in forever this feels sustainable. It feels like getting rid of Dan and cleaning out this staff at all levels may have finally cleared out the bad juju.

I was lying here, thinking that we could seriously win the NFC East this year. And then, I thought about the curse. That no team has won it back to back in god knows how long. Then I considered…this team isn’t even a complete finished article yet. Peter’s and co are in year 1!

Then I started to get giddy at the thought of dominating the NFC East for a few years… I totally believe it could happen!

I know we have a long way to go, but just having these thoughts is a new experience for me. I don’t think I even thought about it during our Super Bowl years, just kind of expected it.

Dallas, Philly, and NY have to be concerned that we’re now going to be a significant obstacle for the foreseeable.

But not just that, we have to be on the radar of all the Super Bowl contenders now as a threat. If we keep this up, no one will want to play us in the playoffs if we get there.

Anyway, rambling because I’m tired and ill. Just had to get my stream of consciousness out of my head. 😂

With all the 'dawgs' references these days, you'd think we'd be paving the way for the Washington Wolves...

I'd be okay with Washington Wolves. My inner nerd would like the Creature Feature version even more... Welcome your Washington Werewolves (imagine the whole stadium howling)

You can put the name change to bed. Unfortunately, IMO Commanders is here to stay after our 4-1 start and being the new hot team that everyone is talking about.

I'm embarrassed to say that Commanders is starting to roll off my tongue now too easily.

Probably, but it's always a fun topic. I don't take the name issue too seriously even if I still tend to say Washington or 'skins whenever referencing the team. The Commanders isn't a terrible name it's just horribly safe, blah, and silly. I mean, think about it, Commanders don't take to the field. They're on the hill. I'd rather be the Washington Infantry than the Commanders.

I don’t like the name but I never use it anyway so, hey. I do agree that this success will preempt a change.

I do however think that the unis yesterday looked much closer to what I hoped to see. They should build on that template for the other versions.

Still sinking in that we pulled our starting QB because WE were blowing out the opponent!! That never happens for us, lol. With Turner, Bienemy, etc -- it would take a miracle to score in the 20s.
