Official Game Thread - Week 2 - Commanders @ Packers - TNF

I'm hoping that our team coming up totally flat and slow is due to TNF favoring the home team.
 
McManus probably has a little extra motivation against us too. That always sucks too.

I said this in a long-winded way earlier, but this Packers D and their special ability to disguise their intent is Daniels kryptonite at this stage in his career. What makes him special is that he diagnoses things before the snap like Peyton Manning, that’s how he wins. They’ve taken that away in a way few defenses are capable of, and he isn’t experienced enough yet to pick them apart in 1.5 seconds after the snap (especially not with our trash route concepts today)

The running game with Bill showed some juice early on, but Kliff didn’t stick with it and then it was a multi-score lead
 
Defense has been kinda up and down, but mostly actually not too shabby. I'd say they're holding up their end of the bargain, unless they suddenly allow a bunch more points. Keep your opponent under 30 points, and have had to do that with some short fields for GB. Some letdowns but I do think GB is just a very complete team atm.

Offense is gonna need every one of the 10 days before week 3 to get right. Something just isn't quite clicking in either of these first two games.

Yeah, well - if it's any consolation - this is not a beatdown to me by player-to-player, a talent issue purely. It looks like a lot is by failure of scheme and coaching. Those are way more fixable. The place where there is a talent issue of course is our OL against their DL in a couple of places (obvious) - but even there, the help and design isn't right. Stubbornly sticking to the same plan or using "14 points down" as an excuse not to run at Parsons? Eh. Not smart.

You could say September is meaningless.

What does mean soemthing though is how you stack up against elite competition. We haven’t even been competitive. If Jordan Love wasn’t so mid, this game is much worse than it already is. There’s no saviors coming from the PUP or free agency. The team is what it is, and that’s clearly too slow to hang with this type of speed. This is the type of speed you see in big games.

Our only real hope is that this is an anomaly. But it sure feels realistic.

Kicker might be the only position not fueled by adrenaline, passion, and motivation lol. They thrive on peaceful placid minds lol

Haha, well, I would submit there are oddballs out there. McManus strikes me as one of those guys who may be a bit on the odd side.

Hold that opinion come week 18 when it’s a must win to get into the playoffs… the saving grace about what I just said is with the showing of the team tonight specially on defense the season will be over by week 13-14…. The last game won’t matter. I know we are frustrated about this game but this is a very old team and to be honest not as good as we all think
 
Ekeler is a good player (and I hope he’s alright) but what he’s good at feeds Kliff’s bad habits.

That’s an Achilles, fuck.
 
That was a really good effort by Deebo to get that first down. No one can call him fat when he beat two guys to get the first down.

Oh man I hope Ekeler is alright.
