Official Game Thread - Week 2 - Commanders @ Packers - TNF

We got lucky several times last year and won despite coaching. Imagine if this team had LaFlaur, McVay, O'Connell, or Reid as its HC.

Imagine if we had Chase and Jefferson, our passing game would be amazing!

How worried should we be that Green Bay gave the league the blueprint to contain Jayden? Maybe it wouldn’t work without their high level talent, but they shut him down like we’ve never seen.

Plenty of teams tried to beat us with 4 rushers while dropping 7 into coverage. Daniels played well against those looks last year. Very, very few teams have the personnel to pull it off the same way GB did last night.

Knowing how Jayden can be solved but being able to do it on a consistent basis are two different things.

Last night that team was able to do it, most will not.

IMO they should sign Clowney. I never bought the idea that Wise is a stud run defender just because his size, it wasn't his rep. Clowney on the other hand is a proven stud run defender.

Russell is not alone on this but there is another side of that coin. Heck Dan Quinn was a little dismissive with his comment of hey its September football. I took that as either hey we got many games to go or that hey it will take some games for them to find their groove.

It's shame whenever losing a heavy contributor. Wise seemed to do well against the Giants keeping contain, something we have not seen around Washington a lot in recent years.

Never the less, I have been in the Clowney camp for a long time. He is my number one FA target. I believe Dallas had him in for a visit earlier this week. We would need to move quickly

One thing that has been really puzzling to me is the amount of time we punted on 4th and short. Last year we went for those and set league records for being so efficient on 4th down plays. And we would convert those and continue going down the field, eating up the clock and eventually scoring. We had swagger. We had a killer instinct. We look toothless and scared on offense this year. It's really a conundrum.

I started watching the All 22, I'll try to get through it all, almost through the first quarter.

As for observations that others haven't talked about much so far.

A. Good sign that they doubled Newton a bunch early. They were worried about him. Newton was husitling and playing with energy.

B. Goldman was surprisingly active and shed tackles well. Another dude who played with energy

C. Allegretti looked atrocious. A lot of attention on Conerly. But Allegretti looked just as bad.

D. Terry was wide open for a deep ball on a post route but Jayden was pressured some and didn't see him.

E. GB moved Parsons all over the place. So did Luvu. But lol, Luvu was easily contained. Parsons was a handfull

F. Tunsil looking fine so far. He seems to make pass rushers do a wide arc to get to the QB which gives the QB more time. But, Jayden needs to be aware of that arc because sometimes he just sits in the pocket oblivious to that arc versus stepping forward a step or two and avoiding potential pressure
