Official Game Thread - Week 18 - Cowboys @ Commanders

I don’t view a pro player on an expiring contract and facing free agency skipping a final, meaningless game any different than a college star looking forward to the draft and skipping a meaningless bowl game.

It’s a business decision. The teams have absolutely no loyalty to players, why should players to teams?
you mean like this:

The final score was 56-19

I wouldn't be surprise if Allen asks for a trade in the offseasont

Well, not exactly but I get your point. Chubb is under contract so I blame the team.

more about a guy getting a debilitating injury in what would be considered 'meaningless' playing time.

The grass is often not greener. Allen has already been paid and so he would be leaving strictly for competitive reasons. I would give the new owner a chance to put his stamp on things and if the new GM and HC are introduced and Allen doesn't like the direction, THEN I would consider asking for a trade.

Allen is a very good player. He is also 29. So, his appeal will be to a contending club but the compensation coming back for a 3-time pro bowler who has been mostly healthy in his career is going to be higher than the #3 the 49ers were able to get Chase Young for.

At the very least I would ask for a late #2 pick and a player at a position of need for us, such as cornerback or tight end. And that player needs to be in his 20's.

Young is happier
Sweat is happier
Trent is happier

If you can name one person on this team who is happy I'll be impressed. I didn't say he would ask, but don't be surprised if he does. He's been very vocal about it. And, 29 isn't old.

Not everyone is going to the 49ers or Ravens and a ready made 13 win team.

Montez was happy to be wanted and to be PAID, which was not happening here.

You seem to be holding the Snyder years over the organization and assuming that there will be a mass exodus of trades because a new GM is coming in.

These veteran players if they are as smart as I think they are have known for some time that the Snyder/Rivera combination was not going to produce a 13 win season and Super Bowl trip.

I think the selection of a new GM is key to how players feel going forward - remember again that Chase was not paid here, Montez was not paid here and Trent Williams thought the organization had caused a health scare which almost cost him his career.

THOSE are entirely different circumstances from Allen and McLaurin who both were paid by the organization and treated with nothing but respect. And both are still under contract.

The other factor in here is the outlook of the new GM.

If he is a capable talent evaluator and value for value guy he is not going to give away ANY players just because they voice an inclination to go to a Super Bowl team. The trade has to be the right one for the organization.

IMO mismanaging the roster and the salary cap days should be over and having to deal Trent and Chase Young for less than they are worth likewise.

Of course one hopes the new organization provides the players with the best medical care instead of the low rent program Snyder was running that had guys all hiring their own physicians, physical therapists, etc.

Well, you know the two young corners are hurt. They don't have enough game film to be worried about staying healthy for next season. Their chance was these last couple of games when the veterans were out.

Actually, Castro Fields and Holmes didn't do that bad of a job against the 49ers being thrown in there as they were.

I expected Purdy to throw for more yardage and the score to be more in that 45-10 range we saw with Dallas and Miami.

I keep reading that Fuller is grading out well in some corners and St. Juste has all of this ability, but if I really can't tell the difference between them based on the numbers after the game and two guys that were late round picks (one is a former 49ers draft pick) and way down the depth chart, how good can they really be?

Think I may just watch videos of Rick Snider eating fried chicken tomorrow afternoon.

Sean Chandler? Sorry, I didn't check the entire practice squad list in recent weeks. Who the **** is that? :grief:

Jace?? Whittaker?? GTFO - dude's a stud, behind the counter at my local waffle house - we got this game in the bag

The joke on Ron is these guys will probably play better than Fuller, St. Juste and Butler and make the organization only look that much worse for its draft and veteran free agent signings.

Houston won their division with a rookie head coach, rookie coordinator and rookie quarterback.

Ugh. Pats show no heart in Bill’s last game
