I actually kind of hope Allen is limited in snaps. Newton has been flashing HARD. We need to see more snaps from him imo.

I keep hearing the narrative that Allen wasn't playing well when he was injured and I'm not sure I'm buying it. The other 10 guys on D were not exactly pulling up trees when Allen was healthy.

In 6 games he had 15 tackles and 2 sacks.

In 15 games, with an ascending defense, Payne has 38 tackles and 4 sacks. In 14 games, Newton has 38 tackles and 2 sacks.

More to the point, in the first 6 games, Allen has better numbers than either Payne (8 tackles and a half sack) or Newton (11 tackles and 1.5 sacks).

You could argue that our defensive unit as a whole really had not jelled by the time Allen went out hurt and that Payne and Newton have benefited from the group getting better as a whole.

It is therefore reasonable to assume Allen will benefit as well - especially since he likely won't have to carry as big a snap count with Newton getting some real experience over the last 10 games.

Him and Payne have contracts that came with the house.

As for Higgins. I can't imagine the Bengals don't pay him for this exact reason. I bet Chase and Burrow would redo their contracts to help that as well.

I like nix a lot, I think he throws a really nice football and is incredibly accurate most of the time but that touchdown pass wasn't one of his special throws.
He just heaved it up for grabs and his guy came down with it despite two defenders all over him.
That was as much luck as it was a nice pass.
It's like how everybody keeps talking about the Hail Mary as jaydens best throw this year when all he did was Chuck it as far as he could.
He's had some way better pickle barrel passes that required way more touch and weren't turnover worthy so has nix.

I’ve never been a fan of the black uniforms. They could have done them better to incorporate black into the scheme. But I will say, they look better in person than on TV. I can’t explain why and the color scheme doesn’t really fit, but they looked better live.

Ahhh.... now I remember... Thanks Ashburn Dave and BabelRich - I think the Giant Foods in Springfield, VA. had those in one of their vending machines back in the day (I grew up in Franconia, right down the road). I had completely forgotten about these...

I got most of mine from the Giant Foods in Fairfax City or Kamp Washington. They were worth going to the grocery store with mom for one.

A few comments:

The black uniforms suck but so does all red. The colors are BURGUNDY AND GOLD.

Bo Nix looks very good. His 4th down TD pass was his Jayden Daniels Hail Mary Moment. I am shallow like this, I don't want anyone talking about anyone else for Offensive Rookie of the Year. And because I am shallow like this I'm glad Bo Nix didn't do shit in the overtime.

I"m glad they are playing in prime time. What I am not happy about is having to wait 13 hours on a rainy day to watch my team play.

One reason to suspect the owners and team agrees with you on needing a rebrand is this fashion craziness. Clearly, they don't feel they have a brand or identity. If they did they wouldn't be changing looks every week.
