Official Game Thread - Week 13 - Titans @ Commanders

Wylie’s also been banged up… I wanna say he was listed with a shoulder (against Philly I think?), but was also wearing an elbow brace. Guess I didn’t notice, but according to PFR, he played less than 60% vs Dallas and missed the Pittsburgh game (as well as the Titans game).

Cooper Rush is a never was at quarterback and we found a way to lose to Dallas.

This is a week to week league and while Washington can win any week it can also lose if the focus and attention to detail are not there.

So far this season Washington has been fairly consistent overall. We have beaten the teams with less or similar talent or ones compromised by major injuries and lost games against the best teams on the schedule in Philly, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, etc.

WITH THE EXCEPTION of Dallas.

And because it was a Dallas team without Dak Prescott, Zack Martin and a host of other key players the loss AT HOME was especially galling.

Yep, the dallas game is the most disappointing one.

Not just because it's dallas, but because they are a bad, injury riddled team that Washington should've handled.

Losing to the Steelers and the eagles was also disappointing but understandable because Washington is a new team with a rookie QB and those two teams are serious playoff teams.

But dallas has lost their starting QB, they have no real running game, and their defense has been injury riddled and suspect all year.

Washington really should be 9-4 right now, but division games can be unpredictable.

I'm just glad they rebounded nicely against Tennessee.

I actually think we can win out - with JD feeling healthy and Kliff no longer on the Kliff Cliff, and with some of the changes we have made defensively along the defensive line + Marshon Lattimore FINALLY joining the fold after the bye week, we are poised for a great end of the season campaign. And yes, we can definitely beat the Eagles. I like the Lattimore on AJ Brown matchup much better than BSJ.

They should beat New Orleans, Atlanta, and Dallas. They could beat Philly at home.

The worst part about the Dallas loss was the timing.

We were due for a dud, all teams have them. The Chiefs just had to hold on to survive against the Raiders 19-17. It happens. We were an extra point away from tying that game and forcing an OT that i have very little doubt we would have won with the utter momentum shift.

The bigger pain was that it came on the heels of 2 losses to AFC and NFC conference favorites. Had none of the outcomes changed, but we had lost to Dallas after winning 3 in a row, and the losses to Philly and Pitt been earlier in the season, the feeling is 100% different. The narrative changes from a downward trend to a blip on the radar.

We've played 3 TOP Tier Teams and gone 0-3. Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Philly
We've played 3 MID Tier Teams and split 2-1. Tampa Bay, Arizona, Cincy
We've played 7 BAD Teams and gone 6-1. NYG x 2, Cleveland, Chicago (who was 4-2 when we played them), Carolina, Dallas, Tennessee.

The Dallas game stung, but it was clearly the outlier. There is obviously nuance in some of these games, especially the first Giants game and the Chicago game, but of the 13 games we've played, I think the only real 'dud' of a game was that Dallas game. Most of the other games, guys made the plays when needed in order to win, and you still could argue we DID make the play to win, we just didn't make the second one.

There is a special and unique festive feeling one gets as an NFL football fan in a run dominant blowout at home. You almost don't realize the run domination unless there are long runs.

The last time that happened to me was our Terps hosting Clemson up in Baltimore in 1984... Alvin Blount Tommy Neal and Rick Badanjek each rushed for ~100 and team over 400. Vs a perceived strong Clemson front led by The Fridge. This time it was vs Meatloaf (who clearly was playing injured - we sat behind their bench - left shoulder favored many times coming off the field).

What a glorious bounce back victory to get us all feeling happy for 2 weeks.

Ha found it. Festive afternoons indeed.
