Official Game Thread - Week 11 - TNF Edition - Commanders @ Eagles

It was as if the skins were not allowed to throw the ball last night.

CBs are important. Interesting stats pointed out by Fantasy Footballers today... Look at what CB Quinton Mitchell has done this year... as a rookie for the Eagles:

Terry - 0 catches on Mitchell.
Lamb - 1 catch.
Chase - 2 catches.
Nabers - 1 catch.
Cooper - 1 catches.
Evans - 2 catches.
Olive - 2 catches.
London - 1 catch.

Maximum yardage given up by Mitchell out of these stud receivers = 23 yards total for a game. As a damn rookie. I love Mikey and he is also playing great but Eagles had a very good draft and CBs are damn important. Last year the Eagles were among the worst in the league at that position and now appear to be in the top 5. Lattimore, we need you man.

One has to give credit to the Birds for drafting this guy. He was the first CB taken, but not until the 22nd pick. He is demonstrating a true shut down corner. I hope AP keeps acquiring talent next off season.

I might have my Sunday's back. Quinn going for it instead of taking the lead on the road in division may be enough for me to take the quick out on the guy and wish everyone Godspeed. I thought we exorcised those demons by getting rid of desperate river crap Ron.

Said with love - but come on. You'd think a team had never lost a couple games in a row before. It happens. As many have said we are playing with found money in 2024 and the team is far ahead of where anyone had them. I think there's a good chance we win the next 2 and go into a bye week 9-4. Good lord - that would be incredible. And even if they don't we are still in the thick of the playoff race.

7-4 is incredible. How many of us actually believed we would be sitting here with this record at this time. If I asked any of you before the season started about if you would accept a 7-4 record at this moment, everyone of you would be happy with the record but would tell me it wouldn’t happen. No one had faith that we were anything more than a middling 500 team.

It’ll be nice for the guys to get some rest and be ready to smash some heads here shortly. I for one am extremely pleased with this team at this point. Can’t wait for JD to get healthy.

I agree the qb draw was a disaster. I think at least half of our fourth down conversions have come from some sort of qb draw. It was easy to sniff out. Bad play call.

jayden looked worn out last night. Hurt and a short week and being a rookie. He couldnt escape and throws were low and behind

If he needs it mabye you sit him for a backup matchup against dallas

We'll never know if it was a bad playcall. The center didn't hear the snap count and the ball didn't come out when it should have. That 1 second of JD having to secure the ball made a huge difference in that play and allowed the Philly defenders to contain him. Had the snap not been bungled might've been a whole different matter.

Bottom line, these games often come down to the little things. We didn't get them done against the Eagles and that was just one example.

First post since the game ended.

That game was another missed opportunity, being ahead 10-6 in the 4th and doing absolutely nothing on offense in the 2nd half.

The defense played great for 3 quarters. If our offense wasn't so banged up, especially at QB, we'd have lit them up for 30, just like the Browns.

Well, that is a possibility anyway.

The other one is that all the BS we heard about Kliff Kingsbury is true and I'm not ready to start believing that yet.

I just think the oline and qb are banged up. We coukd maybe survive one or the other, but not both.

Unless Jayden is at risk of becoming more injured, the advantages to him playing against the better competition he has seen in recent weeks, getting that experience, and pushing through adversity vastly outweigh the short term comfort. A rib injury should not be anything other than pain, with the body movement compensation caused by it not putting him at much higher risk than expected of playing an NFL game.

I think the gains for the team, the culture, and the rookie QB are much greater if he plays through this tough time and comes out the other side. You never want a rookie to miss time unless they are going to wreck their career for it.

I'd feel differently if it was a different kind of injury...but with it as it is, I'm glad he's taking his lumps now, and am looking for the signs of maturity that show we have more than a 1 year flash in the pan.

not putting him at much higher risk
My statement had nothing to do with risk to JD. It has to do with winning. We are in a prime position to be the number 2 seed. Winning now takes precedent over JD's development imo. He is already developed to the point that we know what we have with him. When healthy he is special.

Fair position, and I can appreciate it. I don't think we are winning the Super Bowl this year though, so I'd rather get maximum growth for our squad overall this year, with the intent to draft, recruit, etc next year for a huge push.

I don't think Mariota would have done any better on Thursday.

Im sure the FO gives full benefit of the doubt to the coaching staff and the coaching staff is fully invested in winning. Weve got to get used to that

If Jayden's injury is a liability im thinking the coaches would play Marcus if they thought he was the better option. So far they havent

I wouldn’t say Washington is in a ‘prime’ position for the #2 seed. Could it happen? Sure, but in my mind they are going to have to play much better than the past 4 weeks and get some help from Philly.
