The NFL in its inability to be relatively consistent in punishment really makes me wonder if the FBI needs to investigate like some other sports. Payne gets ejected and suspended (rightfully so) but ref doesn’t even throw a flag on St. Brown?

I really feel like at some point the NFL is gonna have a major scandal on its hands. The reality is, there’s just too much money tied up in this machine now and there’s no way there’s no shenanigans going on.
 
That's inexcusable for that to happen in front of a ref and it not called. Anyone going to ask St Brown about it now?
 
I’m not a Payne fan by any stretch. But that was BS. Not that he got what he got but the other dude skated free.
 
St Brown should have been flagged and potentially ejected. The league should also be reviewing this to determine if there is additional punishment.

However, what Payne did was so far over the line. It wasn’t in the heat of the moment or in the middle of a confrontation. He cold cocked him with a cheap shot several plays after any previous altercation. That’s not acceptable.

Look... I hate the NFL's ass-backwards disciplinary process, and their officiating inconsistencies.

BUT

I'm not in favor of inviting the FBI into the process... I guess it could happen, but I'm not rooting for it.
 
I made a comment which was similar to "at least he has balls. At least there is some fire in him." I caught some negative feedback for that.

I understand that people have to be disciplined in the NFL nowadays. But I'm old school. Nobody touches my teammates, or me, without getting some response. If you look at the old school Redskins they did not take any shit. Sean Taylor would fuck you up, as well as Dexter and CMann for example. That's how I've been my entire life. Even though I've had to become more politically correct over the years, people know where I stand and they know don't fuck with me.

I back Payne up 100%. We need more ferociousness and attitude IMO. We need to be known as a hard playing team that doesn't take any shit.

If that were the case, he would have hit back when St Brown hit him the first time. Instead he waited a few plays later when St Brown wasn’t paying attention and sucker punched him. That’s not balls, that’s cowardice.

The refs were right there so he was thinking that they were going to do something. He was trying to be smart but I know that he was fuming after that. He didn't look at it as a sucka punch. He was just still upset about it and didn't want to hear nothing from that dude or the refs.

Looked to me like St. Brown actually hit him twice - first one causing the ref on the left to run in to separate them, second as the ref got there (you can see Payne's helmet rock back again). So yes, ref absolutely saw what happened. Unbelievable. You can also see Kinlaw making the 'throw a flag' motion behind them.

If the ref had thrown a flag, you have to think Payne likely doesn’t retaliate later. I’m also guessing St Brown said something before Payne swung on him (maybe it’s been mentioned already), cause Payne sure looked like he was reacting…

St. Brown admits he said something in his stupid video, although he claims it was "no big deal" - whatever that means. Also, it's on top of getting free hits in earlier.

I think it's really stupid how AJ Brown got free hits/contact on Lattimore in the freaking NFCCG (and then Lattimore engages, and gets the sole flag!), and now St Brown gets free hits. If I'm the Commanders, I make some kind of plan on how to work the system in the team's favor. Maybe have a strategy meeting on PR/relationships and how to fix this, because it's clear that there are some biases that need to be broken. I think they can be, but it may have to be an actual thing that is planned/thought through.

I remember Gibbs used to send film all of the time to the league about things he thought were unfair. Man, that felt like a weekly occurrence, and nothing changed. Talking Gibbs II here.
 
The strategy should be to get ahead of the situation by punching the other team’s hot head first. They don’t flag the initial punch only the retaliatory ones.

I think St Brown is a bit of a prick. I have no doubt he probably said something that warranted getting punched, but Payne is a team captain and getting baited into it isn't the brightest thing he could've done.
 
St. Brown was fined $12K. That's laughable. What a crock by the league.
