Official Game Thread - Week 10 - Lions @ Commanders

I’m putting the blame for this season on a few distinct issues...

1.) McLaurin’s hold out brought negative vibes

2.) Some of the players who were not resigned may have been talent deficient but were great locker room guys who contributed to a team that was greater than the sum of its parts

3.) An unbelievable number of Injuries

Frankly, I’m numb to it all right now and can’t wait for this nightmare season to end.

Wow Finlay (still watching it) flat out saying they should fire Whitt during the bye,

Don’t get me wrong, Whitt sucks, I just don’t have hope that anything we do will help. I’ve seen this movie too many times.
I don’t know that it changes much on the field. But you can’t just keep getting curb stomped. Something has to change.

I think failing to manage all 3 of these have to come down to failures in the organization, whether it's AP, DQ, or a mix. I said it before the Lions game, and I guess I'll say it again; they can lose 3 in a row (sure, now 4) - but not THIS way. The way they are losing is unacceptable, on offense and defense.

Do we think firing a coordinator will help? How many times have we tried that?

I’m old enough to remember people thinking Danny Smith was the problem, and he’s still one of the best special teams coaches in the NFL.

This may be a little different. Danny Smith has always been known as a good ST coach for 30 years. There comes a timee with all coaches where they wear out their welcome for various reasons.

This was Whitts first chance ever to be a DC, and his scheme/plan sucks and he doesn't seem to be able to adjust well to offeenses

Again, some changes on defense staff should have been made after last season but because of the 12-5 finish and postseason run it gave some of these guys enough cover to come back.

That won’t be happening after 2025.

Hey at least he came to the field.

Payne clearly enjoyed Whitt's calming presence!

Isn’t this the fifth straight loss?
It's the 5th straight loss. It's the 4th straight loss of the variety which shows the coaches are getting outcoached.

We are in the place where organizational change is getting inevitable. It's ok to lose; even lose a lot! However, the way they are losing? No.

Payne should be cut... today.

I have always been one to not be reactionary, so this isn't that. I think we all see the writing on the wall with him, in the sense that the cost savings of him NOT being here in 2026 is bigger than his output on the field. I think a lot of us believe he will not be on the team next year anyways. We're at a point in the season that it's no longer about 2025. Send a message. You can't just punch an opponent on the field, no matter how 'bad' things get. It's a selfish decision. Cut him today. Move on now. We can lose without you. What you did was unacceptable, and will not be tolerated in this new culture of winning.

Too bad AP didn’t trade this bum

B-Mitch said they (the Lions and their fans) can laugh all they want but they still don’t have one of these (pointing to his ring) and he said they aren’t getting one this year either 🤣
I didn’t get calling this a “revenge” game. This is an embarrassingly bad team full of injuries on a major skid. Did the beat down today make their team feel any better about last year? Make their fans feel better?

You were 15-2 and a SB favorite and got embarrassed in the playoffs at home. Does that somehow taste better now that you beat a 3-6 team in the regular season?

Just weird to me.
