Official Game Thread - Week 10 - Lions @ Commanders

Now that the season is lost I am thinking we will be seeing quite a bit more of the young guys. At least I hope we do.
I hope so and hope Mariota has a real connection with some of them at least. Maybe if that occurs if and when Jayden returns he will have taken note and will throw to them with more confidence

I just love watching Preseason games..... in Week 9 of the Regular Season. Who's our third string quarterback that's in now?

Yeah we wait all off-season and invest so much time and money, only to be done with meaningful football before Halloween. Sadly, this has been the norm around here for decades. I wish I knew who to blame or how to fix it, but changing coaches, quarterbacks, managers, and owners has made no difference. It’s depressing.

Well, allowing the Lions to only score 44 will definitely give Whittless another week. I was expecting 50+...

It seemed like that was his gameplan. Don’t let them score too quickly on big plays. It worked in the first half as the Lions took 41 plays to score 25 points. The second half the strategy failed as it took 20 plays to get 21 points in the 3rd quarter.

Seriously dude....show your way out if that's all you got
Sorry that you were triggered by my post. I can understand that it was a frustrating afternoon for those who decided to watch. I'm not sure, however, that you have the authority to determine what/if I post, but no worries in any case.

By way of explanation, I just wanted to remind everyone that there are more important things than watching this team, especially when the roster construction/coaching have created such a flawed, easily-exploitable product. I don't mind losses as long as the team is baseline competitive and is built and coached to win, but there's no upside to wasting time on a situation this sad IMHO.

I genuinely hope, without a bit of sarcasm, that you were able to take a break and find the time to relax and/or spend time with those close to you.

I see the point your are attempting to make here, but what makes me laugh is the hidden insinuation that it would be worth not spending time with those close to us, if the team was good.

Forbes has learned to turn to the side and keep his arms straight by his side and his legs together while in coverage. QBs simply just can't see him and end up throwing the ball directly to him.

Jared Goff looks like this dude

Ryan Gosling Cereal GIF
He's having a harder time carving up that cereal than Goff did carving up the secondary.

I wish I was one of those fans who could just decide not to watch when the team sucks. Then again, I would have only been able to watch four of the last thirty seasons if I did that.

When I was younger, I watched no matter what. Nowadays, I am older and have other pursuits and family that are more valuable to me than the game. I only have so much free time, so I try to spend it wisely.

Also, just simply sucking but having a small chance to win over a better team is not the same as having a roster and a coaching staff that are so easily exploitable that virtually any team in the league can run up the score. 4 in a row by 21+ with a chance for a history-making 5th against resurgent Miami.

Glad Detroit took it easy on us
Looks like they backed off and/or got a bit tired or complacent. It would be intriguing to see a mercy rule in the NFL. Get a 40 point lead at any point and the game automatically ends. That would lead to some cutthroat pummelings.

That is kind of a straw man in that it wasn't my intent and I think you know that, but still an interesting thought exercise and a little funny to think about.

Watched Dan’s press conference. Feels like there is a chance they make a move of some kind after Madrid leading to the bye.

Watching Finlay’s podcast and he’s strongly hinting that he knows players aren’t happy with Whitt and the scheme

Do we think firing a coordinator will help? How many times have we tried that?

I’m old enough to remember people thinking Danny Smith was the problem, and he’s still one of the best special teams coaches in the NFL.

Don’t get me wrong, Whitt sucks, I just don’t have hope that anything we do will help. I’ve seen this movie too many times.
