Looks like 82 will be playing tomorrow... to what extent....?

i am very surprised we haven't seen a Saturday call up from the Practice Squad. Figured we would see Wes Martin or Jaret Patterson elevated with the fact that both starting guards have had pre-season injuries, and obviously the Brian Robinson situation.

Tomorrow is going to be an interesting day. I am looking forward to it. At the same time, I don't have that child-like excitement before the start of a season brewing like in the past. It's strange really. I know it has everything to do with the exodus of the name and the look of the old uniforms. Really hoping that we find a way to dismantle Jacksonville and that the start of this new era delivers some hope.

I'm just nervous and not in the typical anxious for the team to play type of nervousness. If they don't win or if they come out slow and have to squeak out a win, I think the sky will be falling for the fans. The players won't care as long as they win. But fans will not be happy if they don't look good winning. I think that is true of the first 2 games based on the competition.

If we win - squeaker or not - it's on to next week. If we struggle and lose, you're right - it'll be overreaction time like it is in every NFL city.

As I said on the pod, this is a game we should win. All new coaches across the board, team coming off only 3 wins last year (and zero wins on the road). We are a better team and should be further along the growth curve. But it's the NFL and anything can happen. As Om has rightfully pointed out, Trevor Lawrence is capable of putting that team on his back and making defenses look silly. And Doug Pederson is a huge upgrade over Urban Meyer who was a disaster.

But we are a better team and should win. If we don't - it's not the end of the world - but it'll be yet another indicator that Rivera really doesn't know how to get his guys ready to win games they should win.

In a weird somber way, I'm a grab my commanders hat, the "W" and retire the "R" but you can change the name, it's still the game, I'm a fan through torments of mental pain, the years of losing, media PC abusing, owner that's an ugly human, but that can't stop the blood pumping, the anxiety of the second, before which kickoff method, flip the coin, heads or tails, simply put BGO SO ready to go off the rails, and nothing gonna stop us from saying HAIL !!

The Washington Commanders declared the following players as inactive:

No. 14 QB Sam Howell
No. 31 S Kam Curl
No. 40 CB Tariq Castro-Fields
No. 75 G Chris Paul
No. 85 TE Cole Turner

If we win - squeaker or not

I have a strong feeling about a squeaker, for sure.
And would not be surprised to see JAX pull off that squeak
Pederson is an excellent coach. And he's got talent, and guys coming back from injuries that have been out for a while.
They've made upgrades elsewhere too
So they are much better than last year

I find your lack of confidence disturbing

Not sure how any rational being can be confident :)

1-0. Really good 1st quarter and fourth quarter. The final TD to Dotson was incredible. Wentz hard counting the Jags into a false start so they could kneel was great.
Some bad too on O and D, but it’s a win. Time to get better.

Hope we get good news on the injuries.

A win is a win is a win. The 3rd quarter collapse was classic Washington. But coming back and making all the critical plays in the 4th - was decidedly NOT Washington. We can critique but it was our guys that seized the day and won it.

Maybe it's not us, but it is us because Jacksonville is our bitch.

I honestly didn't think Washington was capable of scoring 28 points. And I thought all the turnovers they gave up was going to doom them. Props for pulling out the win but, wow, Jacksonville must not be very good to give that game away at the end.

We took it away plain and simple.

Well, Jacksonville is a year removed from Urban Meyer wasting a year with them.

So Lawrence is still basically a rookie and the rest of the team are still in "development". They threatened but screwed up as inexperienced teams are wont to do.

Consider me . . . underwhelmed. :cautious:
I don't think this team has been good enough to take a win for granted. Considering where we came from I choose to be happy.
