Talk about the game here if you can't or don't want to join us in chat.

Hail!

Going to chat in a minute, but Cousins seems off tonight.

But having said that, **** you Steelers! We're up 3-0!

Breeland looking a little too much like Amerson so far this year.

Just turned it on during our td drive. Seems our defense has adjusted well to the no huddle.

Looks like holding off on that long-term deal for KC1 wasn't such a bad idear.

This game was over a while ago. I know it's just game one, but there's no sign of a running game or a plan to actually try to have one. Thompson in to blitz pick up at crunch time ? Is Jones hurt already ? How about Kelly for cryin out loud. And, why in Gods name do you go out and get one of the best corners in the league, and lock him in on one side so the other team has only to move the top receiver away from him ? Mind blowing. Our DC better get a glass belly button installed, because he's got his head so far up his ass he can't see what he does....... doesn't work. We look like high school kids out there. No in game adjustments, which is kind of the norm it seems under Gruden and his staff, and that's fairly troubling. The Steelers are a very tough team, but I expected to it be a closer game. We were done 20 minutes into it.

We play D like this next week, and Dak will look like an all pro passer, and Elliot will look like a 1500 yard rusher. I'm scared to see what Morris will rip off in relief.

Just not very impressed right now...

Jay Gruden is just a coach and nothing more.
Joe Barry is doing the best he can with no defensive line and middle linebackers that are very subpar.
Bashaud Breeland will never be elite and will have an occasional good game and nothing more.
Kory Lichtensteiger is finished.
Kirk Cousins can beat lousy teams, but wilts when facing good teams.
The running game is non-existent.
DeAngelo Hall is too slow and too old. The safeties scare no one.

The rebuild could take another three to five years.
The record will be 6-10 at best this year.

The tone for the game was set when Gruden punted on 4th and 1 from the Steelers 40 on the opening drive. He showed he was scared and it reflected on the rest of the team. I didn't realize Gruden had his balls removed in the offseason. And then he goes for it on 4th and 6 from the 38, almost the exact same spot but a much tougher conversion to make. It just made no sense.

There is a lot more blame to go around, but this one starts at the top. And Barry is 1A in the blame category for this one. Let's sign Josh Norman, but let someone else cover Brown all night. Genius.

If we ever do become a winning, competitive club again, 90% of the players you saw tonight, wont be on the roster.

That includes the guy under center too.

Mike Tomlin and his staff, could coach our guys, and beat Gruden and his staff, coaching his.

Plan A sucked. And, as usual, a Plan B doesn't even exist in Gruden's World.

I am not sure I would go as far as Ax, but I agree with him...the coaching tonight was very suspect. You punt on their 40, then by the same logic you punt again when faced with a very similar situation. Just because the opposition went for it on 4th and short and got the TD, does not mean you change your thought process. If you punt of 4th and short in their end of the field once, when down by only a point at a critical juncture in the game you do the same as you did earlier or attempt the FG, which our kicker was making with ease all game long.

Kirk needs to be able to handle the pressure better. He was bad all night long with his throws and vision.

Nothing like a loud mouth corner getting blasted after suggesting he is a part of the best CB duo in the league. Well, if you are Brashaud, then prove it...you got toasted all night long.

Barry brought pressure early, then backed away once Big Ben started getting some momentum going. On 2 occasions, we had them to 3rd and 8 and 3rd and 6 and he showed blitz and backed out. It was the same thing last year...you don't think Todd Haley had tape on that? Come on man, change it up...bring the heat.

Overall? We simply got beat by the better team. This Steelers team is far better than I thought they were. I hoped we were primed for the upset...we weren't. We still have some building to do before we hang with a team of that caliber. However, I still think we win the division. Now if we go out and shit the bed against Dallass next week? Fire Gruden and Barry, give the reigns to McVay and give him the opportunity.

I just looked at the stats...we threw the ball 43 times and ran it 11 times. That won't get it done, even if this is a pass happy league.

Rg3 and the Browns received the biggest spanking of the week until Cousins and the Redskins one upped them.

I'm not so sure that not playing most of the preseason is a winning strategy. Cousins looked to be in mid giants game in 2014 form.

Lmao. Good Lord.

It was one game. Yes, down by 8 in the fourth and losing by 22 sucks, but it's not the end of the world.

A few early season penalties will be fixed. The only things I find concerning are Breeland and Cousins needs to be sharp.

No biggie, onward to week two.

Ok ok. Im not going to over react and declare the season over or anything. The Steelers are a good team. A very good team. And we arent yet. Not the end of the world. That said, my observations:

It may be a passing league, but the Steelers just gave us a clinic on the importance of the run game. Kirk wasnt great, but when the defense knows it doesnt have to play the run amd cam just sit back and wait for the pass, you're not doing your QB any favors. Terrible, terrible game plan. And no adjustments. That was a Norv Turner game plan if I ever saw one. The Steelers have a top QB and the best WR in the league, but they still set the pass up with the run. They showed patience and kept our defense on its heels. They fed the ball to their bell cow and let him and his line get into a rythm and wear our defense down. 74 rushing yards in the 4th quarter. Ballgame.

So now I hear that the defensive game plan is to have Norman play one side and Breeland the other. If thats the case we paid WAY too much for Norman. I assume if you pay top dollar for a CB you expect him to take away the opponents top WR. Thats a lot of money to pay a guy to cover the other team's #2 WR for most of the game.

Anyway, i expect we'll have better days than this in the upcoming weeks. And the team still is a work in progress. But tonight was sadly predictably dissappointing. I guess we arent as far along as we'd hoped. Oh well.

You can't be serious, can you?

Did you see our run defense tonight?

The Steelers ran it down our throat. We knew it was coming and still couldn't stop it. And Newsflash: signing 35 year old Cullen Jenkins will do very little to fix that.

We got run off the field,in Prime Time,at home, again.

2-15 at Fed Ex since it opened on MNF....and one of those victories belongs to Gus Ferrotte.

7-9 this year if we're lucky.

I said 8-8. That still sounds about right to me.
