Official Game Thread - Preseason Week 3 - Ravens @ Commanders - EARLY DAY GAME

I know it’s only preseason, but I’m very discouraged by what we have seen in these three games. Our depth must be bad given how uncompetitive our backups have been against other teams’ backups. A couple things about this one:

It’s hard to evaluate our offensive players with Hartman repeatedly turning the ball over.

Luke McCaffery is getting a long look in this game, but he is rising to the occasion. He’s had some good blocks, a few catches, a good run after the catch, and a special teams tackle. One of the few bright spots today.

How is it we never have a reliable kicker and teams like Baltimore have two?

Probably. But can we take that chance with Marcus busted up right now?

if he's that busted up, I'd think they'd put Mariota on short term IR and keep Josh on the 53-man.

The thing is we’re really not even playing our backups today. We are evaluating our backups backups and that has been skewed & basically impossible to evaluate. You really cannot take anything away from this game. Also keep in mind Baltimore IS playing their backup QB so far. Surprising I know 🙄. It’s what Harbaugh does consistently. We have been playing our 4th QB. Big difference all around.

I know it's preseason and all, but getting outscored 106-38 so far in 3 preseason games isn't exactly confidence inspiring. These guys have all looked lost.

Agreed. VERY disappointing preseason. Hartman is a huge part of that though. He has been horrific.

So ready for this preseason to be over with. Bobby Wagner has not played a down. Von Miller ditto. Jayden 4 plays. On and on. We have not seen our “real” team play a single down. Ready to move on to real football.

Sam Hartman is not the only reason we’ve been outscored 109-38 in these three preseason games. It looks like stopping the run, which was our biggest weakness last year, is still a problem this year. And apparently we still don’t have a reliable kicker.

Other teams are playing backups too, and we’re getting embarrassed. Look at how the Giants faired against New England compared to us.

I’m sure things will be better with Jayden, Wagner, etc., but I worry about them having zero dress rehearsal.

I certainly hope it’s true that we cannot read anything into preseason results, but I was already expecting a letdown this season, and I’ve seen nothing to assuage that worry.

I've sat in those seats before. Great view of the field and there is a guy up there that throws candy to everyone.
