I get it but I think his vision is poor enough and he leaves enough yardage on the field that he’s actually a net negative to the offense. He’s one of the least efficient runners in the league even when you account for our OL. He’s a rhythm back who needs to work up a lather getting the majority of carries and his mentality is that if he’s not getting fed, he can’t eat. He said it on the sideline last season in a mic’d up segment. You can’t have that mentality in an offense like Kliff’s, where we want to spread the ball around, be explosive, and be remarkably efficient to keep the defense off the field and shorten games. It’s just not a fit, he missed cutback lanes like crazy which has to drive the coaches nuts

We were historically good on 4th down. You know how many times we NEEDED 4th down because he missed a hole and got stuffed on 1st-3rd down? I bet the staff does.

You know how many times we NEEDED 4th down because he missed a hole and got stuffed on 1st-3rd down? I bet the staff does.

There were a lot of instances especially in the second half of the seaason, where the holes just were not there. He had seven TD's in the first eight games of the season.

His big positive is he rarely loses yardage and was able to break tackles in the backfield 80.2 percent of his runs are for positive yards

I am glad Biadasz is getting some playing time. I do not however want to see him playing for that long. I'd guess he and Jayden play a quarter or so then leave the game at the same time

There were plenty of times last season he had a cutback lane or something open but he plowed into the back of his offensive linemen instead for a loss. I think there were quite a few times where it was more of his OL being pushed back into him as soon he gets the ball.

I think it’s been so long since we’ve had a good RB with excellent vision that people actually have a hard time seeing the holes that ARE there. Our OL wasn’t a strength last year but I saw endless cutups of terrible missed holes from BRob, it was a focus for a lot of twitter clippers even during our great run last year. There are designed cutback lanes being missed.

Going from Antonio Gibson (blind) to Brian Robinson (blind) really has done a number on this fanbase. What’s that, 5-6 straight years of Stevie Wonder taking handoffs while fans try to convince themselves he could be good?

I would even say it’s similar to how having multiple QB’s in a row with no feel for the pocket convinced people that our OL (while not good) was somehow the worst OL ever assembled (it wasn’t) despite the fact that sacks are generally accepted to be a QB stat, overall.

The OL in the running game wasn’t as bad as you thought and Robinson wasn’t as good as you thought, imo. All the advanced stats show that he had a much worse time of it than all of our other RB’s, behind the same line.

Advanced metrics are not his friend. Brob is that dude who will turn 1 yard into 3.5 with grit, but he’ll also miss the hole entirely and have a 0 yard gain just the same.

He could find a rotational spot on a team where they need a thumper, with the QB behind center.

There is still competition at RB without BRob. Ekeler is still a playmaker when healthy, JCM and McNichols looked good last week, and Rodriguez is set to get a long look tonight.

I don't think you can always compare the two because the situations ( who is in the backfield, down and distance, etc ) are different.
We talked about it a little bit here in another thread last season.

So, understand that Dallas treated Ekeler different than BRob. IF you go back and watch the way Dallas aligned in the various formations, when Austin was off set to Jayden, they would leave the opposite B-gap open. A defense will do this to provide some low hanging fruit for the offense and allow for the end player to contain and force him into the hole where a scraping LB can make the play. Also, they are in man coverage so that backer is generally lined up over top of him so its a foot race to the hole. Dallas wasn't focused on Ekeler's run ability and while he got a few yards off the play, they were more concerned what he could do in pass. - Utah
