Talk about playing chess?

Maybe they should carry a right footed punter on the practice squad just for practice purposes? I never thought about that as a thing, right vs. left footed punters to practice catching punts.

I used to play tennis (badly) and lefties always gave me fits because everything spun the "wrong" way. Wrong being opposite to what you see 90% of the time.

Things I want to see in this game which it's pre-season but give me some basics to enjoy

QB play - accuracy, quick reads.
RB's, hitting the hole, no dancing,.
OL, no dirt on the QB's jerseys (unless designed runs, which please God no in the pre-season), no blatantly missed assignments.
WR's - if it's close, catch the ball
DL - pressure but in position (no Chase Young clones)
LB's - wrap up tackles
DB's - please just don't suck as bad as last year

I actually want to see only one thing: I want to see tempo on offense. Move quickly, no-huddle, whatever. Our offenses have been so fantastically ploddy since ... well, maybe 1991.

Just get up and go. Be fast.

Oh, I guess a second thing: no injuries.

I just want to see efficiency no dumb penalties play physical and of course no INJURIES... Let's Go Commanders

Installing a new offense with a new offensive coaching staff and tempo in the first preseason game, never seem to go hand-in-hand, but I’m with you. I would love to see a fast smooth tempo even if it is vanilla and if we do kudos to Cliff Kingsberry and the staff for bringing these guys along as quickly as they have and kudos to the players for putting in the work and buying in . Sometimes that’s half the battle imp

I kindof disagree with this. Remember when Chip Kelly took over the Eagles? They were fast right out of the gate. If that's how you practice, that's how you play.

I get that there are aspects of learning, and learning takes time and repetition.

But that said, if the plan is to have tempo (and based on Kliff's history, it will be a component of the strategy), then you practice it from the beginning, and it's just "what you do."

I think what a lot of teams do, to their detriment, is try and install everything first, and then figure out tempo later. That's a bad approach. Start with the end goal, figure out how you're going to tag plays differently, practice it and implement it as part of the plan.

(Chip isn't the only one who's done it this way. He's just the most obvious example.)

Anyone know how to watch this one non-locally?

What foods are folks having during the game? We usually smoke some pulled pork or brisket but decided to go easy for preseason, so we'll probably swing by 'the Deli' over in Herndon for some Italian cold cuts today.

No to watching the game remote. Catching it on the radio would be my option.

I have NFL + so I’ll be streaming it via phone poolside at a kids birthday party

I was fairly pleased with today's showing. The starting drive was smooth. Almost all the rookies who played flashed. Our fourth stringers didn't hold up, but that's okay. I was close to saying that I'd be okay with Daniels, Driscoll, and Hartman being our QB room, but Driscoll was given a few chances to play hero ball and couldn't get it done. Marriota did look like a bum in his one series. I was surprised they pulled him after that stinker.

Sinott made the most of his catches! Was surprised that Jamin Davis was playing deep into the Fourth Quarter. Brian Mitchell kept trying to talk him up, but when you're playing in the fourth quarter of the first playoff game I don't want to hear about almosts. Lots of other stuff, but that's top of mind.
