Official Game Thread - Preseason Game 2 - vs Baltimore Ravens

No starting d lineman will play tonight

But it looks like they’re working pre game so I’m assuming it’s not serious

Why am I watching this bullshit again?

Look to see a decent amount of Sam.

Personally, i'd love to see MORE of Sam, because i'd love to see Bieniemy, and Sam, work together to scheme up an offense that can assist the offensive line, instead of being like we've been in the past.... Same style of gameplan regardless of what level of the depth chart is on the field protecting the starter.

Cuz we only get 20 of these per year... unfortunately 3 of them don't count, but they all matter.
The fact that most of our D isn't even dressing is pathetic. They aren't hurt so I see no excuse why they can't play a series or two. Especially Young who needs all the playing time he can get.

I agree. it's one thing if it was Allen / Payne.

It goes back to the other conversation. Preseason games aren't approached with the goal to win. They are likely trying to figure out who the last 5-6 guys who are going to make the team are and want to give as many bubble/borderline guys time they can be evaluated as possible.

I am assuming that some of the guys sitting out are dinged up and they are being cautious. And I would guess some of them won't play because there are other guys they want to look at in extended time. Just guesses though.

Game play against someone other than the same partner you go with day in and out does matter to me. Your partner gets lazy, you don't play as hard because you don't push each other.

Every single player on that list can afford to play a series or two. Logan Thomas and Chase Young need to. Fuller has been getting beat all camp and needs it.

Winning or losing is secondary at this point. We just need these dudes to actually play in a game.

Yeah, I don't disagree expect I think 2 of those 3 are banged up so that's probably why they are holding them out. I wish they'd just get rid of the damn preseason personally. The injury risks just aren't worth it. I think what you are saying has validity though - especially when we are under a new OC and a whole new offense where every rep reinforces learning it.

Understand preseason games for what they are.
I also understand that this club has a hard time getting out of the blocks to start the season and that they are always digging out of a hole.

I also know this club hasn't won diddly in 30 years, yet these guys get babied like they are coming off a SuperBowl season.

Frustrating.

Kind of funny, Rivera went on and on about how they decided to do the scrimmages because the 'analytics' showed teams had fewer injuries during the season. Only to suffer a bunch of injuries during the scrimmages, lol....

Nick Gates is a DAWG at times

Josh Harris looked like he had been partying it up before the game, for sure.

Howell played really well. Bridgett had a rough outing. Tinsley played himself onto the practice squad. They really tried to make him the hero, but nerves or his hands let him down. Wild goose got abused and picked on. Hope Terry’s fine. Wrap him bubble wrap until the opener.

Felt very good about our offensive production and execution.

Edit: stupid autocorrect. I should have guessed it would mess up Brissett.

Was honestly surprised Slye made it.

Oh, and we may have a new Osaka.

These games don't matter, but on some miniscule level they matter.

When you are digging yourself out of the giant hole that was the last 24 years with new ownership, you have to start somewhere.

At the very least, wins like last night create a positive feeling within the building. They reaffirm to the group what it is they are building towards.

You could get the sense that those in attendance wanted that victory last night. Slye had to have felt the butterflies before he lined up for that 49 yarder, just as he would have had it been Week 8.

It was nice that he was able to simulate a pressure-cooker kick and nail it.
