Official Game Thread - Playoffs Week 1 - Commanders @ Buccaneers - SNF

They always post a chat thread with the link. You can also find chat buttons on your phone or laptop
Maybe a log of the chat can be saved/pasted into a single post spoiler within the GDT for folks that missed the game, or need documentation of their fandom to bring to their therapist. I think some may be embarrassed to read their comments but I know others watching the game delayed may like to read thru the discussion as they watch the game belatedly.

More importantly, its time to focus on Detroit and their head coaches willingness to hand games away with questionable decisions.

In the meantime, anyone needing a avatar upgrade can nab this of our Commander in Chief

I have mixed feelings about the chat room vs a game day thread. The chat room is live and fast and if you blink, the discussion is gone. A game day thread is slower but whole. You can start on any page in the thread and take your time reading through it.

Last night was my first time participating in the chat room and it was fun but maybe too fast for my liking. The other thing I didn't really like about the chat room is that it gets wiped out after the game. I tried to catch back up in the chat room this morning, but all was gone already.

To answer your question about where the chat is, Boone creates a chat thread each game and at the top of the thread is the link to chat. This week's thread was called 'Wildcard Game Chat Sunday'.

Thanks for the info, i figured it was only up during the games. I could never find a chat when the games were not on.

Kancey surrendering waving the white flag was symbolic of their inevitable loss. I'll spend today contemplating making a gif of him waving the flag but maybe someone more cut from the Frank GIFFER mold can make it for us

I wonder if Daniels keeps that towel there as bait for players to grab.

This is the second game in a row where we've seen this.

A week ago against Dallas, When Mariotta broke free on first and one, a Cowboy raised his arm in celebration. This week, when Daniels secures his fourth and one, a Buc raises both hands to signal touchdown!

Don't understand why kicking a field goal at the end of a game somehow is better than kicking one in 1st quarter. Maybe Quinn can explain it to me.

My first reaction was not that kind.
I was not pleased with making the field goal 5 yards longer just to line up the hash.
If that had boinged and went right instead of left that decision would have really pissed me off.
Just because it was still a very makeable kick for an nfl kicker doesn't mean you have to make it any longer, we were inches from finding that out the hard way.
Yes, this is going to get lost in the excitement. That was not a good play. That needs to be taken under center with a quick sprint to the left. Then you lose only a yard. That 4 yards was almost enough to miss. Hopefully they learn to run that from under center or do something there they can get it closer to the originally line of scrimmage.

Yeah, I prefer the GDT. Don't care for the chat. There's always a couple posters calling out plays before I see them happen, so I gave up.
Yeah, my wife kept yelling at.me because I'd be like, well looks like we got the first down here and she'd be like, why do you go in there if it's gonna spoil it.
I kind of just popped in popped out super fast the second half and I tried to wait for a commercial or something so I wouldn't get a spoiler.

Where is the chat located?
The chat bar is at the bottom of every screen. There is a 'disable'/'enable' button at the bottom center of the screen that hides chat if you don't see the chat bar. Click it and you'll see the chat bar if it's not already there. It's present on phone and however you access the site.

Play of the game? Foresight to spot the ball for the game winning field goal on the left hash mark...lol

When I looked (after the play) where the flag was blowing, it looked like he overcompensated too much for the wind. Could that be the OCD creeping in... ?

Thanks Ashburn Dave. Like I said, anyone who prefers the game day thread is welcome to it. Sometimes folks are ahead of others and that can be a turnoff if you are hearing about the play 20 seconds before you see it. Not much we can do about that. It is usually the 'streamers' who are behind. I do 'wipe' the chat because it never occurred to me that anyone would want to go back and read it. I can wait 24 hours to do that in the future though. And as I said, the chatroom is always accessible at the bottom of every screen. I do post the thread just to help anyone who may not realize that.

I really, really liked subbing in Mariotta for the sneak.
I am reasonable. All I wanted was more creative running calls. It really wasn't some outlandish desire.

Yes, we got it last night. Give other teams something new to prepare for. I guarantee the Lions will prepare for that now. I hope there are additional wrinkles coming!

It was a good time for one of the better called games of the season by Kliff, and shout out to Dyami for having one of his best games in the big lights!

Or a handoff to Jayden on the sweep.
I was sure the second time they lined up with Mariota under center that was the play call. It would have been fun if the Bucs did jump offsides though. God I felt awful when we did it against the Steelers.

Both of those are possible. I am wondering if they would actually try having him go out for a pass. It feels to me like that would be bad though. If I were on a competitive defense, even if he's a great kid and all, I assume I would be drooling to get a hit on him to slow him down in the big picture of the game. I like your ideas better, I think. Slow developing plays that hinge on JD too worry me a bit though; we are so reliant.

I am glad we showed a wrinkle on offense and had Mariota out there. Detroit will take note of that and be fixated on Daniels if we motion him out. Cause confusion and make them fixate on a decoy.

The lack of running game from BRob is getting... awkward. I am SO glad we did use him in the passing game however, a good start to not letting Detroit see us telegraphing run up the gut for 2 yards when he is in the game. I have a sneaking suspicion we see a lot more Ekeler vs Detroit. Our counter to Gibbs Montgomery.

You don’t understand why going for 7 points instead of 3 points makes sense when you don’t know the outcome of the rest of the game, compared to going for 3 points and the W as the clock expires?

What is there to not understand

We went for it on 4th down 4 times

Got it twice and scored twice instead of settling for FG’s

14 points actual > 12 points we would’ve had if we just took all 4 FG attempts (and assuming we even made them all)

The math’s pretty simple, you just have the bias of knowing that we didn’t score a TD every time. Even still, the numbers say we did the right thing.

I’m a bit old-school so I was squeamish about not taking the three to tie the game on the first one. But after that I liked going for it on fourth down the rest of the times. Jayden is just so clutch that it defies the standard percentages. And we should prepare for more of the same next week. I don’t think FGs are gonna get it done against Detroit.
