Official Game Thread - Playoffs Week 1 - Commanders @ Buccaneers - SNF

Having an elite defensive backfield may not win you the game, but having a subpar one will surely lose it for you.
 
Hasn't been a shutdown defense all year, so not surprised they are giving up some points. Hopefully the offense can keep making plays like they have been all year.
 
I hope no one is expecting a "shutdown" defense, but just basic competency is not too much to ask for. Any throw to Evans anywhere on the field is an automatic completion or flag. Any throw into the endzone to any receiver is a TD or a flag.

Yeah, if they allow less than 28 points in this game we have to see that as a win, and outscore them
 
I am fairly happy with the game. Another year of roster building and we will be elite. Playing a pretty good game here on the road.
 
Brian Robinson as our starting RB is a problem, btw. He’s not good enough, not creative enough, doesn’t have the vision. Looking forward to fixing that in this deep RB draft

Mike Evans in certain situations is virtually impossible to cover 1-on-1 for reasons Collinsworth mentioned earlier, and I'm not sure Lattimore playing his 1st game in a few weeks and 2nd game in MANY weeks is a good call for that either. This switch they made apparently now... hopefully it changes their fortunes a bit on D. That needed to be tried earlier in my opinion; just not a lot of time in the playoffs to let dudes figure it out, especially coming off injury and all of the circumstances here.

They've given up 17 points vs. a playoff team through 3 quarters. That is basic competency in the modern NFL.
 
Great 4th down conversion there.

But these penalties are starting to pile up a bit.

Banged up CBs, 2nd and 11, run play... I LOVE running the ball in certain situations. Not sure about that one.

There are times where it's important to do that; you need to limit certain tendencies and have variability. HOWEVER, their CBs are banged up right now... not sure this was the right time.

You would think now is a good time to go to McLaurin. I thought the 2nd and 11 was the perfect time. Not sure if Dean is back or not though, they didn't say anything that I heard.

This is a killer right here. Cannot afford a 1st and goal from the 1 and not convert, and especially can't afford 0 points.

The 2 turnovers on downs are gonna haunt us, that's 6 points we coulda had.
