Official Game Thread - Playoffs Week 1 - Commanders @ Buccaneers - SNF

I don't know why anyone would want the game on Sunday night. The waiting all day is torture. But damnit we are 12-5 and getting valuable playoff experience, we're playing with house money so we can't lose.

But I honestly don't like them in this game. We were not even competitive in the opener and Baker has an annoying habit of appearing unstoppable at times. Sure we're not the same team as we were in the opener. We are also not the same team we were in the fall when they routinely hung up 41 points. If we were honest with ourselves we would admit the infamous KK mid-season drop off has occured once again in Washington. Jayden is simply not as accurate as he was 2 months ago, he's just not, and that is all a concern to me.

3 of our last 8 playoff games have been against Tampa.
3 against Seattle.
Green Bay and Detroit one each.

Not a really big sample size over the last 25 years. But the same teams keep popping up.

I can't think of a better time to break the "kinda" trend!

A playoff victory will be huge for the new regime

A few players were able to rest yesterday and most will play this week. Show discipline, create turnovers, and kick the run game in gear
 
Maybe the biggest advantage to playing the Bucs vs. the Eagles for us is the weather. Daniels is a California kid who's played relatively few cold weather games. He has played well this year in his two "cool" games, still Florida is going to be a lot more comfortable for him than Philly.
 
We can beat Tampa, they play in about as weak of a division as there is. Their 4th division title doesn't impress me, and they will be playing a very different team this time out. I'd try to get tickets, but it's going to be pretty cold Sunday night... well for us Floridians at least.
 
Let's sink that damn pirate ship!

Also, we gotta' get used to Primetime Games. With rising star, JD5, we can expect more high profile games in the future.

If Lattimore is back, I kind of wonder if we might be better using Belichick’s philosophy - have him singled up on the #2 and then doubling Evans (when in man coverage of course).

I'm more concerned about the defense than I am the offense. Looking real rough in stretches.
 
We beat Philly once and we can do it again. The only team I worry about is the Lions. They slapped the Vikings around last night and Sam Darnold was bad. I guess I do worry about going against the Vikings and that Brian Flores lead defense. He’s one hell of a coach and I could see him terrorizing JD5

We should be rooting almost as hard for the packers as we do for the Commanders.
If the packers can pull off some sort of miracle run they'd clear Philly and Detroit out of the way and we'd have Tampa then rams/Vikings before a home conference championship against the packers.
Million to one it happens but it would be by far our easiest path to the superbowl.
 
The offense will have to really be clicking for us to win, IMO. Baker has been playing the best football of his career, and that offense can put up points. Trey Lance was able to move the ball on this defense all day long, so I have zero faith we'll have much success next week.

We'll need to rediscover an actual running game outside of JD, and control the clock, to win this one. We can do it, but it'll be tough.

Regardless of how next week plays out, this is our best season in decades, and I'm proud of this team for doing what they've been able to do, especially considering this roster is still an undermanned group.
 
With the way that we have started out the last few games slow without a lot of production? Also having to come from behind to pull out a last-minute victory? I am very worried

Its an interesting shift from earlier in the season where we started fast then sputtered.
