Official Game Thread - Playoffs Week 1 - Commanders @ Buccaneers - SNF

Better be prepared for the blitz - Todd Bowles loves to bring it.

I'm concerned about Lamar and Henry running effortlessly against Pittsburgh when we couldn't establsh the run game vs them. Not sure if we are improving or regressing in trench warfare.

It's feast or famine for these defenses that blitz JD. He's averaging over 10 yards per rush when defenses blitz. Defenses have been blitzing at a far higher than average rate when they play us, but we've found a way to be successful anyway.

Shades of the pilgrimage to Canton for the Monk / Green HOF takeover

This is kind of like saying you're concerned we didnt have a WR that had 177 yards receiving against Dallas, because Jamarr Chase was able to do it. Baltimore's run game is on a different level than 30 other teams in the NFL. Philly is likely the only team that comes close. Different style's, but similarly dominant.

If I'm remembering correctly, we had a number of different injuries in that game, including B-Rob. Say what we will about him recently, but early in the year he was extremely effective. Our run game needs help, you're not wrong, but I think the health of our O-Line this week, primarily Biadasz could give it a serious shot in the arm.

What does this have to do with the game against Tampa?

scheduling oddity: the first 3 playoff games are all AFC matchups. The second 3 are all NFC.

I’m not sure what that means or why they did it that way. But I found it remarkable, so I remarked on it.

I realized that this morning and went "Hmmm..."

I put this in the NFL gameday chat.

But the Chiefs are living pretty playing Houston and letting the Ravens and Bills duke it out.

It’s somewhat win-win for me. If the Bills lose, I get to celebrate Bills Mafia crying themselves to sleep yet again and wasting yet another generational QB talent. Except worse this time because at least Kelley got to 4 SBs. I despise Bills Mafia. Arrogant bunch of twits for no reason.

And if the Ravens lose Harbaugh can shove a chainsaw up his ass sideways.

Anyway. Off topic, but somewhat relevant for our eventual SB opponent. :p

Because I wonder if we are capable of taking it up intensity wise another level and think that will be necessary in order to win a road playoff game against teams that are used to being in the playoffs.

Either the Ravens sandbagged the 1st game against Pittsburgh or took it up a notch. Likely the latter.

I can't tell you how happy I am that we are damn near fully healthy this game. My gut tells me we start fast, score first, and never look back. Everyone of the Prisco's in the world seem to look right past us because Baker is so damn experienced in the paloffs. To that I say...nuts! I think we might see our best game today as a team this year.

I predicted during preseason that we win at least 11 games this year and either outright win the division, or get a wildcard slot. I also predicted that we win at least one paloff win this year. So, with a win today, I feel I've done my part. Now Jayden and the boys need to play strong and bring us the head of Baker to put in our trophy case!
