Official Game Thread - NFC CHAMPIONSHIP - Commanders @ Eagles

Just saw on NFLN that Jurgens is a go...

Well boys, the last time the team played in a game of this magnitude message boards didn't even exist. I'm not sure what to say.

In about an hour I'm heading over to watch the game with my 89 year-old dad. I don't know how many more of these moments I'm going to get, but thank you, Commanders, for giving us at least one more.

Good luck to us all. See you on the flip side.e
Enjoy it, my friend. I'm a little jealous.

I just posted this on my facebook page: (And I think most of the facts are accurate. I might be missing an old starter. I know Lucas is also 34, but not a starter.)

The last time the football team from Washington played in the NFC Championship Game was January 12th, 1992, following the 1991 season. To put that into perspective:
- I was 15 years old and a Freshman at Langley High School (Go Saxons!)
- The President was George H. W. Bush. We were less than a year removed (February 1991) from the conclusion of Operation Desert Storm.
- The team name was the Redskins. The owner was Jack Kent Cooke, the coach was Joe Gibbs.
- The team played at RFK stadium. They are about to vacate the stadium they moved into later in the 90's to possibly move back to the same site. A whole stadium lifecycle occurred since then.
- The #1 song in the US was "Black or White by Michael Jackson, who was still alive.
- The #1 movie in the US was "Hook." (eeeeek?)
- Michael Jordan had not retired from the NBA for the first time. Let along the second or third.
- For all practical purposes, the internet had not been invented yet. Cell phones were in their infancy.
- 3 starters of the current team had been born: Bobby Wagner, Zach Ertz, Tres Way. All are 34. Jayden Daniels would not be born for another 10 years.
It's been a while since my team has played in this game.

We've watched our beloved historic franchise and Redskins team grow, underestimated by even myself, but passion, ferocity of belief and pain and dedication and honor kept building a sum of all parts with one mission we will always fight. Something we haven't seen since JKC owned the team. Fuck Philly, let's go HTTR!!

Awesome!

There is nothing like this Henry, savor it.

I lost my Dad a few weeks ago on Dec 1st after a long bout with COPD. He spent a week in the hospital before coming home.
He was checked in on a Sunday morning and moved into a room that afternoon. After he got settled, the nurse asked if there was anything else he needed.
Dad pointed to the TV and asked "Can you get the Redskins on there?" Which brought a big smile to my face and we watched the game together.

It would be the last time we did so. But for a guy that was a week or so from passing, he was just as into the game as anytime we watched together.
I'll never forget that and will always cherish that moment in time. I know that somewhere, Dad's getting a big kick out of this crazy run.

So maybe if a field goal is just a little off, he might can give a small push to get it through today. :)

See you'll on the other side folks

I was a freshman in College when they won the Super Bowl in 92. It’s been a long long wait to get back to contention. Let’s go boys, take advantage of this opportunity.

Why not us!

Yeah I was 25, now 58. Last year, the SB was on my birthday (which will probably never happen again).
This year, it's 2 days before. I will be ecstatic just to have the team there again.

I may or may not be binging Pringles at the moment. 😳

Looks like both her and Erin Andrews are on duty

Man, I’m so nervous. I really really want to win. I’ve been calm this season, but the further we’ve gone in the playoffs the more amped I’ve been getting. Didn’t expect to make it this far, but now that we have I really want to crush everyone in our path.

Yea, me too. Lotta emotion.

I'm really loving the pregame here on Fox, AKA "Philadelphia Eagles Fully-In-The-Tank Homer Network"

I didn't get to see the last time the Redskins were in the championship game, because I was in Sicily waiting to fly and land on the Kennedy. The superbowl was watched in a 10x10 room, on a black and white TV that locked up every 2 minutes and then you'd get 10 seconds of game play. I was somewhere off the coast of France and there might have been 400 guys in that tiny room or fighting over each other to get in there. It was more insane than I could write about. Basically a f…
