Official Game Thread - NFC CHAMPIONSHIP - Commanders @ Eagles

I am going to be on a plane during the game trying hard not to spoil the result before I get home and get to watch it. I am even taking off the commanders hat I usually wear to avoid the inadvertent, "tough loss" or "great win!"

Odds on making it home without knowing the outcome...maybe 50/50. I am an optimist.

That is so uncool.

I feel like the eagles and the crowd gonna come out hyped up. Probably go up a score or two. But JD methodically brings us back into it. Then later in the game it falls on Hurts to make some plays and the pressure of the situation proves to be to much for him and JD leads us to victory.

I can't be the only one sick of Jason Fucking Kelce riding his brothers name being force fed to us before during and after games
And Travis was famous before, but his fame skyrocketed when he started dating Taylor.

So, in a transitive way, we’re being forced to watch Jason Kelce because of Taylor Swift.

(Fwiw, while I’m not a Swiftie I like Taylor and have no issues with a guy out kicking his coverage, which Travis has certainly done with Taylor.)

But it is Taylor’s fault.

I've finally turned off all of the pre-game shows....

As always, it's so hard to predict, but I am guessing the Eagles will try to pound with Saquon until the Commanders commit. If they can force the Commanders to commit, then things change.

However, I do think they (the Eagles) will plan for Saquon, Saquon, and more Saquon. All year long, in general, they have not abandoned the run, even when behind. I don't expect that to change. I don't know though - sometimes coaches plan differently, but with a supposedly gimpy Hurts, a defense more geared to stop the pass than the run... my guess would be a LOT of Saquon as long as they feel like they are in spitting distance. As long as they feel like they are making defensive stops at least sometimes, they will probably be comfortable with that plan.

I hope we shut down Saquon reasonably effectively. I hope we get some plodding drives. The other thing I hope, is that the reports of the 21% are accurate and they are audible. I actually think with this environment, it may make a difference.

Yeah, that was my hypothesis as well. Wouldn’t say the evidence is concrete, but reduced playing time, JD not looking his way often when he was playing more, and then those picks… not a great sign.

Of course, even if that is the case, I still have hope for McCaffrey’s future - the game hasn’t looked to big for him, he’s found a home as a returner (with little to no experience that I know of), and he’s still new to the receiver position. He’s also very obviously a bright kid, a hard worker and very coachable.
Hopefully with another offseason and good coaching the6 can get on the same page. He’s an athlete for sure.

One thing I didn't like was when Gainwell came in, he had some success and that seemed to shake the Commanders D a bit. I am sure they are ready this time. Dorance Armstrong had a huge game against the Lions. I think that is one of the things people miss about Payne and Allen - when both of them are there, they take a LOT of attention which frees up our LBs and other DL to make big plays. The credit often goes there, but the unsung heroes are Allen and Payne (not all of the time, just sometimes I can see the attention given). Hopefully with Payne out, the rest of the DL will step up. This defense has been better about 4 quarter football recently. Against the Eagles dedicated rushing attack, that is the hardest part; keeping it up for 4 quarters. What has helped is complementary football; for THEM, they get complementary with a defense that pushes the ball right back even after a tiring run/run/run type of offensive attack. ToP will probably be an even bigger deal than in most games in this one; I think DQ emphasized that in the postseason, especially against TB.

So impressed by the coaches so far this postseason!

Our offense and JD5 obviously carries us. The defense has come up with big turnovers and even scored.

It's time for special teams. Let's see a game changing return from Crowder or McCaffrey today!!
The special teams unit has been hitting with violence on kickoff and punt returns all year. I have been waiting for them to knock a ball loose and create a turnover all year long. They are due and today is a perfect day.
