Official Game Thread - NFC CHAMPIONSHIP - Commanders @ Eagles

The Cowboys never were America's team.

Their GM or one of their FO guys just said it on TV once and morons ran with it, lol.

Yeah, obviously there are a whole lot of fans that aren’t super confident, I just feel like there’s been a general shift - from “this is going to be tough” vs Tampa, feeling like we had almost no chance vs Detroit, to “I like our chances”. Sort of a “house money” mindset to a “we got this” mindset.

And to be fair there’s good reason to be more confident, including how the team has performed in the playoffs so far, the fact we beat Philly once already, and a lot of little factors (JD’s ribs the first game, Hurts hurting, etc), so I’m not knocking the belief. It does add to my nervousness though (and I already had plenty).

I think the injuries for the Eagles might be piling up as well.

The thing with the Lions, they HAD the ability to just out-score everybody. And they would have out-scored us if they had just turned the ball over 3 times instead of 5. It's a tough way to live, knowing you have to score 35+ to win, but they were more than capable of doing it on anybody, especially at home. Which is why they were and I think should have been the favorites.

The Eagles feel a lot like the Chiefs this year. They have an "ok" offense, play conservatively, rely on their defense, and look to break 2 or 3 long runs to break the game open.

The Eagles have Barkley, and the theory is, if you play good defense, eventually he's going to hit a couple big ones.

The Chiefs have Mahomes, and the theory is, if you play good defense, eventually he's going to score enough points to win.

The problem with playing that way, is you're always in close games. And in close games, one mistake can be your doom.

I'm kind of banking on Hurtz seeing Daniels out there making him look like a JAG and Hurtz trying to do too much and making some dumb mistakes. Mistakes that Daniels rarely makes.

Playing against Daniels is going to start to make other teams feel like they are playing Mahomes. Remember how bad Lamar Jackson looked last AFCCG trying to out Mahomes Mahomes.

Kind of like that. Daniels just can't make mistakes and we should see it happen. Eagles forget about the run game, Hurtz gets panicked, our pass rush does some damage, he might even turn it over a couple times.

They might even turn Hurtz into MegaHurtz, which we can then refer to as MHz.

That was their brand for decades.

Not so much anymore. But it was their brand, hell NFL Films and the "voice of God" said it over and over....

It might not have ever been true, but they did a masterful job marketing it.

I'm confident and will be heartbroken if we lose.
Fuck the Iggles and their shit fans.
I used to ... nevermind. That's a story for a different day... :p

If the Eagles win the Superbowl (shudder)…do they send rings to John Mara, Joe Shoen, and Brian Daboll?

The Giants letting Sequan leave is truly one of the stupidest personnel moves ever made by any organization ever. And Mara did NOT want to do it. I think it's all on Shoen.

I'd definitely send him something for being stupid.

Even our mishandling of Kirk's contract between Dan/Bruce/Scot McCloughan PALES in comparison to that complete screw up.

The worst part is them signing Daniel Jones for 40 a year because he lit up Ron Riveras garbage defense a few times.

Random, but I was poking around yesterday looking at the previous two matchups… I didn’t realize that both of Daniels’ interceptions came when throwing to McCaffrey.

Also (if my math is right), 1st matchup Daniels was 4/11 throwing to wrs. 2nd matchup 17/26. 3/12 on 3rd down vs 7/16. Here’s hoping that trajectory continues!

I believe if the game is close we will win.

I’m of the belief that McCaffrey is not consistently where he is supposed to be. With JD throwing on anticipation this can be a big problem. It’s the reason I believe he has not become a bigger part of the O. JD just doesn’t trust him yet.

Yeah, that was my hypothesis as well. Wouldn’t say the evidence is concrete, but reduced playing time, JD not looking his way often when he was playing more, and then those picks… not a great sign.

Of course, even if that is the case, I still have hope for McCaffrey’s future - the game hasn’t looked to big for him, he’s found a home as a returner (with little to no experience that I know of), and he’s still new to the receiver position. He’s also very obviously a bright kid, a hard worker and very coachable.

You know, with most teams you can reverse the first letter and you get something funny. For example, Duck Fallas. The Eagles are special. They're so obnoxious that the reversal doesn't work. If you try you get Phuck Filidelphia.

Accident or proof?
