Official Game Day Thread: Redskins @ Texans

I have to agree with Elephant and servumtuum. Obviously, it sucked to lose the way we did. But, I don't think all is lost. The NFL game really does turn on a handful of plays. Griffin played good enough to win, the D def played good enough to win - any time you hold a team to 10 points - you SHOULD win. But, you can't have those mind-jarring turnovers in the rz or give up a blocked punt-td.

-Alf and Roy look like a good combo in the backfield. Jay just needs to use them more.
-Typo really plays polar-opposite. Woeful in pass-pro, but he was amazeballs in run blocking - even against Watt (who the camera crew was in love with - do we really need to see prolonged shots of him walking into the stadium or drinking gatorade EVERY pause in action???). Hopefully Compton/Moses gets in there at some point
-Amerson played well
-K. Robinson served well manning the middle of the D.
-I dunno, I got more of a no-nonsense vibe from Jay post-game than I've ever seen from the likes of Norval, Ol Ball Coach, Zorn and Shan. So, that was good to see.

Not a finished product yet - so, hopefully, it will go onward and upward!
 
Ross tucker was brutal on Rg3 this morning. I didn't think he did all that bad to get raked over the coals that way.
 
I also liked what RG3 had to say post-game. I thought he owned what he needed to and kept it real.
 
I appreciate the glass half full approach but Houston was a team that lost 14 straight to close out the season last year, somehow they were worse than us. Saying some areas were decent yesterday when comparing to another horrible team from last year with no QB and one guy on D isn't mitigating the disaster for me at all. This team flat out lacks talent in a LOT of crucial areas and our team went shopping for players in areas of strength from last year. Plus the coaches blew it yesterday too. Anyone ever hear of giving the right side some help, or here's a crazy thought, a roll out for one of the most mobile QB's in the league?! Nah...GTFOH! Yay...I can't wait for the rest of the season.
 
RGIII didn't win the game, but he was far from the reason for the loss. Two years ago, though, he wins that game.

I hear you CT - but Gruden is a first time NFL head coach. If we didn't think there would be a learning curve we probably weren't thinking.

Yesterday sucked but I'm not going to slit my wrists or give up on the season just yet.

Houston was expected to make some noise in the playoffs last season the wheels came off just like our own team...Some Blamed it on the Qb ...some the Oline some on coaching. They did however field a really good front 7...That front 7 showed how weak our pass pro really is ...Using your same logic the Pats, Bears, Packers are all in trouble. It's valid but it's only week one...I vote we give the team a few weeks before coming to any conclusions.
 
I used to yell and scream. But not anymore. In fact, the worse it gets, the quieter I get. I did some negative spewing in the chat room yesterday, not proud of it, but I thought we'd handle the Texans and that was one of the more frustrating losses I've sat through in recent memory.

Ross Tucker seems to have something personal against RG3. Always bashing him from what I can tell.

It sure sounded that way today. I dont often listen to his show any longer so I didnt know if it was a trend or not but when he said things like "RG3 is an unathletic QB with no elusiveness" I couldnt help but wonder if he has ever even watched him in a game, especially in 2012.

As long as he learns from it, it's all good. Kyle was so damned frustrating because he never seemed to learn.
